Kevin Steincross' Oero Cookie Balls

1 package Oreos
1 stick Philadelphia cream cheese
1 package chocolate almond bark
1 package white almond bark (optional)

Place Oreos( I do 5 at a time) in the blender; crumb off and on several times until finely crushed. Do this until all the Oreos are crumbs.

Place Oreos in large bowl with softened Phil. cream cheese in it. With a mixer; mix the Oreos and cream cheese together until thoroughly mixed.

Place wax paper on cookie sheet. Take walnut sized pieces of the Oreo-cream cheese mix in hands and roll it into ball. Place on the wax paper/cookie sheet. When done (you should have between 50-60 - depending on the size), stick a toothpick (plastic ones work easier and are reuseable) in each piece.

Freeze for a couple of hours.

Melt chocolate almond bark in microwave for 1 minute; stir; then MW for 1 more minute. Take each oreo/c.cheese ball by the toothpick and roll in the melted chocolate. Then place back on the wax paper. When all are done; place back in freezer for a couple of hours.

Actually, they are ready to eat now. Just take out of freezer and enjoy.

OR

Melt 1/2 of the white almond bark in the microwave for 1 minute; stir; melt for 1 more minute in MW. Stir.

Remove the toothpicks. Take the balls (one at a time) and roll the top in the white almond bark. Then if you want to add a chocolate chip or and M&M or something decorative, do so at this time.

Place back in freezer for couple of hours. When well frozen, put in plastic container. Will last for a couple of months.

Rest in Peace

This Wednesday my uncle passed away. He was in the hospital a few weeks/months back and got some sort of bacterial infection. Apparently you can only get this from a hospital, and highly contagious. Anyway he fought and fought and could not kick it. He passed away.

This is my mother's sister’s husband. She (my aunt, mom’s sister) is unfortunately not aware of this as she is in a nursing home with full blown Alzheimer’s.

This is actually days a vuu (sp) for me, the family. My grandfather passed away while my grandmother was in nursing home with Alzheimer’s.

This actually breaks my heart the most. I can not imagine not knowing my beloved was gone, because I was gone mentally. I have a hard time with Alzheimer’s. It scares me to death. They say it is not heredity but I my grandmother had it. Now 2 of the 5 girls my grandmother had have Alzheimer’s.

Sorry side tracked.

We will be leaving to go out of town Saturday, and I will be back some time Monday.

Christmas Pictures

I took the kids all to get their pictures taken. It was the biggest PITA. Mine has always been an awesome picture taker. Not these two girls. Ugh! So Here they are and even a bonus of me in there. (FYI ~ I hate my picture taken, and Catcher Dude talked me into it.)

Pecan Rolls ~ New Post of their own.

So continuing from my to-do list from earlier, one of the items on my list was to make Margie's Carmel Pecan Rolls that I recently got the recipe for. So the directions say to mix this all up and place in oven to sit and rise over night, and cook in the a.m. Well I didn't need them in the a.m. So I thought I will mix all up and let set during the day. So I guess I might have stuck in oven by 6:45. Well ... I guess I let them RISE to much. LOL. These were them at 3:30. They stuck in my oven to the rack above. I have to say we had a great laugh about these. Hoping they still come out good after the baking time. I had to mash and smoosh. LOL

So I continued on. Baked 350 for 30 minutes. They actually recovered and cooked up nicely. I was really impressed. Now taste? Not sure on that one. I promised kid I would leave him some to taste before leaving. But they sure as hell look yummy.

To do list

I really want to start getting things done during the day. I seem to waste so much time, and next thing I know it is 12:30, kid on his way home in little over hour, I have to deposit dad dude at his ride, and nothing gets done.

Now back in Jan '06 I had posted goals for the week and would cross off as I went. Well I think I will start with goals for the day. Now my eyes may be bigger than possible, but we will see how it goes.

So goals today 12/11

Make Margie's Carmel Pecan Rolls for the PTSA meeting tonight
2 loads of laundry
dishes
pick up Christmas pictures
pick up new piece for catcher dudes catcher helmet (Actually DH went and did this for me)
go to post office to mail Ornament Swaps
go to bank to deposit money in baseball account

So let's see if I can get these items done. All the while toting infant, toddler, and getting dad dude at his drop off @ 12:30.

Well it is now 3:32 and I did all I can do today. But I really need to hit the post office tomorrow. This is a must do. Now cooking the rolls, and dinner for catcher dude and getting ready for PTSA. I still have to shower and get things together, check time, etc.

Catch up and a long ramble

First who ordered this ice? I sure as double hockey sticks didn't. I really do not know what the flip floppin deal is but we NEVER use to get ice storms. Snow, yes. But flickin ice? Get outta here. As I type this I am once again waiting on a repair person to come rescue my house. The cable wires are pulling out my siding and stuff from the house. Umm .. ah ... hell NO!! I just had this repaired from last years ice storms. They told me Thursday at first, I said sure and I will send the bill of repair when it pulls and breaks the house trim and siding. NOW they all of a sudden had time to come out tonight. Yeah, so says them and there between 2p and 6p. So well will see.

It sure is pretty. But sure causes a lot of damage. I really thought the district might close today. There were quite a few. CD missed the bus and as I slide out of driveway I was really thinking school was not worth the risk of crashing. But alas I did make it fine once on HWY. So all was good, until I of course slipped on sidewalk coming back into house this morning. Dad dude quickly took care of that before I choked him.

I did give in and decorated this house. But CD is fully aware there will be no Christmas presents this year. Just can not swing it. Some how we are still in a sinking hole. It is hard to go from a family of 3 to 5 and still same income. *sigh* But I am working on getting it fixed. But all pennies and accounted for until later in 2008. So if giving up Christmas gets Catcher Dude on the fields of his dreams, then this is what we will do.

Speaking of Catcher Dude, his arm. Ah, yes the wonderful elbow that needed big time repair. He is still going to therapy. But the insurance saw fit to not approve it and is costing me in the millions, err thousands, err well in the grand hundreds that could reach thousand. Thanks! I am so glad dad dude pays out the ass at this job for his insurance only to have to pay BIG outta pocket money. FUCK YOU BCBS!! But the therapy is going well. He is learning plenty of exercises and drills that will pay off in the long run and should HUGELY improve the arm strength and build up the arm so it will not happen again. Still working on the Catcher's Program from the Doctor office. But it is hard to do it every other day with dad dude working nights. Then the weather is not a friend either. It is cold, raining, icy and making impossible to get it all in. This program IMO is not made for winter but summer. But he has to be repaired before then if not missing the season.
Catcher dude also finally made his team picks. He dropped 2. So this is good news. The team (Cyclones) are only going to be a tournament team. So no league play, just tournaments. They are actually going to play in the Cooperstown Dreams Park Tournament and he is so excited he could bust!! This tournament is in New York, and lasts 7 days. He will get to stay in dorms. This apparently is the tournaments of all tournaments, if you ask the boys. Us? The money sucker of all money suckers. There is the fee to pay for the boys (over $600) , but the parents have to find accommodations. Umm I called around over the weekend for prices. Over $200 a night for hotels ($1750). Get the fuck outta here. I had to put a deposit down for a place to stay yesterday. This is insane. He doesn't play there until another 7 months, but everything was booking up now and FAST. PLUS .. do we even know if he will be able to play? Or still playing at that time? *sigh* Taking a BIG risk here.
What else is on the fire? Hmmm ...

I thought I had some other things I was going to ramble on about, but I am at a loss right now. So I will stop. I have rambled enough.

A year? Already?

Nov 30, 2006

It will be a year ago tonight when the lights when out in Georgia the city. The big ice storm hit here. Branches falling taking out back half (kids room) of house.

As luck would have it, they are calling for rain/sleet later into the evening. I am very concerned that a repeat is coming. Now I am not a total fool. I know the trees have all since been removed and there isn't anything left back there to fall. Well but if I really look the neighbors tree has a branch that could in fact break off and just slightly either clip the electric line or just slightly miss it. Then there is the tree in front. So it is a good fact it could take out the front of house. This time my bedroom and in fact me. My bed is on that wall of the house thank you.

So I really should not be worrying about the date. But tell that to my inner voice.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!!

We are just chillin at home. Very nice, quiet day. Turkey in oven. Napping by all. My FIL was suppose to be here over an two hours ago. He stirred the pot about getting together and eating. So my dumb ass loving DH agreed. But here once again no show, no call. So it just might be the 3 .. ah yes I said 3 (that is enough to be thankful for right there) of us.

I say back to the couch for football in the background, and watching the inside of my eye lids.

God Bless.

Still on DL

Continued from Fri., Oct 26 ~ Landed on DL

Well Catcher dude really didn't get much better news. He still can not resume the team. Now why this is a BIG deal on Monday Nov 19? I have no clue. The season is still over. Nothing resumes until at the very earliest January 7th. But catcher dude is acting like we have cut his baseball supply off for life. That we have taken the actual breath from his lungs.

So back to what I was saying so still on DL for his team(s). They cut all PE activities. He is allowed to still go to his catcher clinic (following a guide line). He starts physical therapy on today where he will have to complete a 30 day Catcher's program, which should take until around the 7th-8th of January. Increase the icing time. Then in January will go back to the Orthopedic DR. Then we will see where we are at. He is still possible looking a small chance of surgery and not playing again.

*sigh* I really feel bad for him. He is heart broken. I have never seen him this upset in his lifetime. He had a big melt down. A fit? A tantrum? None of those words match really, least in my definition. Let's just say a nasty melt down of tears, crying, and throwing the paper of instructions (which hello? throwing? That is on the NO~NO list). We all just stood in shock. The Dr really tried to calm and reason with him, and though he said he understands, he doesn't. As we weren't in the cafeteria more than 10 minutes at school and he swung his arm (left at least this time) and took out a stack of trays. Ugh! This time the principal and counselor talk to him.

So that is the update for now.

DL, Sick family, boring etc

Nothing really new around here. Catcher Dude is still on the DL, he is making this the longest 4 weeks in history I swear. You would have thought we cut the damn arm off instead of just having him rest the damn thing. *sigh* Last week I had to shake my finger and yell nicely discuss with his P.E. how he is the adult and Catcher Dude needs to listen when he says, "No! You can not throw that ______ (fill in the blank)." Of all the nerve letting CD be the boss. ugh!

Catcher Dude had a nice report card. Very pleased with the turn out. There was one questionable grade, in music of all things. So that pulled him out of NJHS. But there is always next trimester.

To fill his baseball void (which brings to mind a quote I heard recently ... People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring. - Rogers Hornsby) he joined Science Club where he is building the be all end all mighty robot, intramural soccer (eh? Do you have to use your arm??), and Drama Club (oh he has drama alright .. lol) So these are Monday, Thursday, and Friday. So least on those days in is out of my hair until later in the evenings. :P

The nieces are still here. But will be leaving this weekend. With all the troubles around here they have to go. No more. The money well dried up and I am not their parent(s). It is time, long past time.

Last weekend I had a BIG Freecycle event and got rid of tons. Just in time for more junk nice gifts from Christmas. I am hoping to get rid of another load here in next couple weekends. That is really the way to go. Just have a big Freecycle event and yell from the roof tops post on the website come one come all .. No dealing with setting up pick ups. No dealing with no shows. Just all there, first come first serve.

Speaking of which (Christmas) I saw a commerical for a FLY Pentop it looked really cool. But after searching and reading about them. I fell absolutly in love, L-O-V-E, love with this. I went Sunday and personally looked at them and today he became the proud owner (least come Christmas) of one. This I think well be a god send for my LD child. I found a really good deal on the new one, plus free software. She shoots .. she scores .. :-) I hope he likes it. *shrug* If not just return it.

I wish I had some fancy, smooth ending, but I really have nothing else.

Memories

What scents are your favorites this fall? There are many scents that bring back fond fall memories. How about Pumpkin Spice or Hot Apple Pie? The great smell of yummy desserts cooking in the oven without the calories! How about Apple Cinnamon or Cider? These remind me of a cup of hot cider.

How about Gingerbread or Christmas Cookie? Or even Banana Nut Bread? These remind me of visits to my Grandma’s house. These bring back the fond memories of the Christmas holiday season.

There are lots of wonderful scents that bring back memories of time gone by, and family members that have passed away. Memories that make me smile and memories I long to never forget. I love to smell Christmas Pine, as it reminds me of walking through the woods with my mom and dad on a hunt for the “perfect” Christmas tree. All the great traditions of times gone by.

Memories.

What memories are you going to sit and enjoy?

If the shirt fits ...

Wear it. LOL

I was looking for a shirt for Catcher dude and I came across this one. I had to laugh. This sounds just like him.

I know it really bites I can find all sorts of baseball, pitcher, fielder, basemen, etc shirts. But I can not seem to come across a funny lil catcher shirt. I wanted to order one for Christmas. I might order this one.

I found this one. I do like smiliey guys, but I really wanted a shirt that has some sort of catcher theme.

I guess I still have some more time to surf the net. I am just disappointed I can not seem to find what I am looking for.

A mess, sick kid, and ramblings ...

wanted to update the look of my blog, and man I made a bigger mess then worth it. I still don't have it all put back together, but this will have to do for now.

On top of dealing with blog today, I get a call at 7:50 to please come gather up Cather Dude he has a temp of 103. Now if they didn't have school so bless it early I might actually known he was ill. I never seen him in light. I got him up at 6:20, and on bus at 6:33, he arrives at school 7, and AC is at 7:15. So yeah that was fun. I could have slept in.

Last night catcher dude went to a friends house and helped out at their haunted house. He apparently had fun. First Halloween we spent apart. Oh course dad dude was working. He are a couple pictures I got.

Landed on the DL

Yep! Catcherdude is on the DL (disable list) until at least after Christmas Thanksgiving. After a couple weeks of complaining of pain I took him into a Pediatric Orthopedic Doctor specializing in Sports Medicine. He is diagnosed with medial epicondylar apophysitis Little League's Elbow (LLE). The x-ray was just nasty of that elbow.

What is LLE ~

Little League Elbow is a medial epicondylar apophysis growth plate injury on the medial, or inner aspect of the elbow. The growth plate is the attachment site for the group of muscles that flex the wrist and rotate the forearm palm down. It occurs in children and teens involved in sports that require repetitive throwing motions.

How is Little League Elbow treated? ~

Rest, rest, and more rest. At least a recovery time of six weeks. Ice the elbow. Splint when possible. If doesn't heal, or continues to separate it becomes a surgical situation.

Luckily this was found early enough that CatcherDude has light restrictions. He can still bat. He can play 1st base, but throw under handed. He can not under any circumstance throw. Not a golf ball, baseball, cotton ball, nadda, nothing!! Or he will be on the DL longer.

Things will have to change in the spring as well. He is not playing more than one team (if this mom as a say). The amount of practice and play time will reduce.

Update from 10-16

Updating what is Catcher Dudes choices for now as he is really upset as things went down Thursday night. So the updates are in red.

Storm~ Season Over, team dissolved. (Of course will not return .. team gone)

Rhino~ One more double header. (Will not return do not like the team. A case of grass isn't always greener on the other side type thing)

Longhorn~ Season Over. Probably NOT returning. Wasn't the team kid was looking for. (Though I love this coach, it is the kids choice.) (Will not go back for the reason already stated)

Athletics~ Season over. Asked kid to come back in the Spring, but wasn't the drama of parents I was looking, and then they ended up dissolving as well and we didn't have to make a choice. (Of course will not return .. team gone)

Chargers~ Season over. Kid will be returning. He loved these kids. They are in love with Catcher Dude and will take him when they can get him. (What rec team wouldn't want a Triple A Catcher to come? lol) (Will not play for this team, he was stabbed in the back by the kids he so loved on this team .. B & R so he is washing his hands of them.)

Cyclones ~ Still on team, not sure if practicing anymore. Not sure about staying ~ Leaving (defaulting to this team. As all that left. Catcher Dude is fine with this team. I on the other hand am not but not my team, he has to live with this. I always have the option of not going, or if I have to be the driver .. drop off. )

Slam~ Should hear by Wednesday if made team or not. (edit: they called tonight, he is suppose to go back Thursday. So we will see.) (Well he may or may not made this team. Was suppose to know Monday. But as we all left ... CD, B & R, they asked B to stay behind. They offered B one of the positions, and said they would choose Monday between CD and R. Well B said he would only take the position if R was offered the other position, they are a package deal.

So the way I understand this Monday CD will get his rejection email or phone call. *sigh* So CD washed his hands of B & R. Personally if I was the coach I would have said well then KMA. So nice a child (and his parents) can sway a coach like that.

I am beyond disappointed. I can not believe this happened, but I should be surprised. B likes to jump on others coat tails and take positions on multiple teams. He was not suppose to be at the try-outs for the Slam, but jumped on board CD and K coat tails. WTF!

So B is currently on Longhorns, Chargers, Cyclones, and Slams. Having to desire to drop any.

R is on Longhorns, Chargers, and Slams. *shaking head*

I am going to bed. I can not seem to shake this stomach bug I have. Probably stress.

*edit*

Yes this could all change if he ever calms down. He is away for the weekend so this might help. He needed to get away ... too many people in this house anymore. :)

One more to go ..

then we can place the 2007 Baseball Season behind us.

The boys (chargers) played awesome last night. But these 8:15 pm games are a nightmare on school nights. It was after midnight when we all got to bed. They won their first game, lost their second (but the Cardinals brought in kids to see this happen .. whatever). So the Chargers ended their season 10-2. Good job.

  1. Storm ~ Season Over, team dissolved.
  2. Rhino ~ One more double header.
  3. Longhorn ~ Season Over. Probably NOT returning. Wasn't the team kid was looking for. (Though I love this coach, it is the kids choice.
  4. Athletics ~ Season over. Asked kid to come back in the Spring, but wasn't the drama of parents I was looking, and then they ended up dissolving as well and we didn't have to make a choice.
  5. Chargers ~ Season over. Kid will be returning. He loved these kids. They are in love with Catcher Dude and will take him when they can get him. (What rec team wouldn't want a Triple A Catcher to come? lol)
  6. Cyclones ~ Still on team, not sure if practicing anymore. Not sure about staying ~ Leaving
  7. Slam ~ Should hear by Wednesday if made team or not. (edit: they called tonight, he is suppose to go back Thursday. So we will see. )

I know I am done with all the running. I am always so tired lately. I have to have naps to keep up with kids. But now we are just down to Catcher Clinic on Wednesdays for next 16 weeks. That starts tomorrow. Plus we still have one more double header with the Rhino's.

But until then .. I am off to nap. Zzzz Zzzz Zzzz

Sunday, October 14, 2007

So tired Sunday

It rained during both games yesterday. It was already cool, but the rain started and *blah* it was cold. As far as I know, or am concerned it never got as warm today as they were saying it would. Today was a double header with Rhino's. They won both games, but they had to come back from a 4-8 total and scored 5 in the last inning to win 9-8.

Then it was off to another (read this as UGH! *stick a fork in me*) tryout. We blessed the Gateway Slams with our presences. lol. They are suppose to call either Mon, Tues, or Wed. to let them all know. They have practice on Thursday, and leave Saturday a.m. for a Tournament out of town. So we very well could be heading to Illinois come Saturday morning.

*oy*

Seriously kid!! Pick already. I am tired. I just want you to pick! Pick!! PICK already!!!
I am tired. I really believe he has totally worn me out. I keep thinking baseball is ending, and something else pops up.
Z spent the night after we got home last night. Which of course they didn't get to sleep early enough for my taste. So everyone is dragging today. Z will be leaving soon and then were off to a football game, of an ex teammate. Later on we have practice with Cyclones.
Run, run ..

knock me over w/ a feather ~ Rachel's Challenge

Catcher Dude turned down a baseball game. I was just shocked. He had a chance to play again tonight or go to the home opener. He went back and forth with the choice all day. But finally picked the home opener.

He is playing again tomorrow. So I have another night off. I am off to a presentation tonight at the High School. 'Rachel's Challenge'

Rachel Scott was the first person killed at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999. Her acts of kindness and compassion coupled with the contents of her six diaries have become the foundation for one of the most life-changing school programs in America - Rachel's Challenge.

I have heard nothing but positive things about this. Though not recommended for young children as I understand. So since CD is with the dad dude tonight I am off for some me time.

also .....

I finally after repeat times of trying to get a hold of the Communication teacher, the main Principal told me the SSD supervisor had been contacted. So I stepped in and called today, and dropped my *bomb* I hope they take this serious and steps are taken, as I will press the issue. I am most certain the SSD supervisor will take the steps needed. They know I am *stick a fork in me* and I want the SSD teacher removed. They have until the trimester to solve.

also .....

My headaches are starting again. Ugh! I am hoping it is the weather changes. Though I am nursing a lot of Advil. So we will see. I can always call and start my meds again.

also ....

I have put in motion the steps to begin working out of the home again. Money needs to start coming in more. This is what happens when the household increases, and not the income. I have a few feelers out there. So we will see.

------------------------------

Later in the evening ... Continued .....

This was a wonderful presentation. I believe all middle school & high schools should have 'Rachel's Challenge' presented in their school. I really do not believe there was a dry eye in the room.

It is sort of sad the district only had this at one of the High School's. They should have tried to have this presented at a couple schools. I really would have liked to seen Catcher Dude see this tonight.

This was so worth the hour sitting on hard bleachers to go hear tonight. If you or your child get a chance to go to a presentation, I urge you to go. She truly is (was) an amazing girl.

I have this theory that if one person can go out of their way to show compassion then it will start a chain reaction of the same. - Rachel Scott

WTF ..

It's a school night!!

So yah! I like watching Catcher Dude play. But getting home a little before 11 pm, is pushing it in my book. I will ... I will, HA! WE will be draggin butt in the a.m. There is NO WAY I am getting my butt up to get him on the bus in the morning, err today. So I will just take him in. If I can get the dad dude to get up and take him ... EVEN BETTER. SCORE!!

So scores and such will have to wait. The score book is in the truck and I am NOT getting dressed to go get it. :P

I do remember the first game (6:00 PM) they lost and lost horribly. There was even a parent fight over a child. Not a pleasant experience. Actually it got so rough that kid had tears in his eyes and wasn't sure he wanted to complete the game.

Second game (8:15 PM) had the familiar smile back on his face. They won this game. He caught I believe 5 innings, and played 1st base the other two. LONG game. Scoring was done, great plays at plate & base took place. It was a fun game. :-)

Details to come.

EDITED:

Alrighty, so it is almost 2 pm and I am still draggin ass around here. But I did want to get back to this post before starting another one.

So the first game as I said was a nightmare. There were many issues that I would have done differently, but I am not the coach, manager, etc. Catcher Dude played SS all 4 innings, and I am totally shocked that it was only 4 innings as I am reading over the score sheet. In the 1st inning he scored (putting them up 1-0), and scored in the 3rd inning bring it to 2-3 but anothe child scored so it went into the bottom of the 3rd 3-3, okay so far so good. Bottom of the 3rd is when H-E- Double Hockey Sticks croke out. The opposing team scored 9 runs and parents broke out into a fight (oh good lordy!). It ended 4-12 and hurt feelings by some.

Then we get to the 2nd game which I really thought CD was going to have me turn the truck around and go home. :o( But his desire to play out ruled his feelings towards some parents and players.

He never scored during second game. They had him towards the bottom and when he got on base, he was stuck behind others that couldn't/wouldn't steal. But he did hit well, and caught 5 of the 7 innings. He made some nice plays behind the plate. Threw out 2 at second. The other two innings, he played 1st. He threw out to seond and third to get outs. The final score was 7-5. Nice win.

Luck for us there is no school on Friday, so the 8:15 game on Thursday will not be an issue. :)

Sad Ending .. Confusing choices ahead

So LH ended their last double header losing 9-4, then winning 13-7. Not bad. Being this kids really have never played together I guess all in all they did well.

Today was the last game of this season with the Longhorns. Little bitter sweet. I really love this coach. He has really stepped up catcher dude's game. But as it turns out Catcher Dude will be moving on. As I talked about in the 10-01-07 blog. CD went and tried out for a triple A team (Which is a few levels above the Longhorns), he was offered a position with that team. So why am I not jumping for joy? hmm... good question. I just really like the LH coach. I really do not know much about the triple A team coaching staff so I really need to give them a chance.

CD will be having practice next Sunday with his new triple A team, and then in November is the parent meeting. So I guess I should hold my judgement off until then. DH isn't a fan of letting CD play more than one team, though he let the rule bend for fall ball and kid played two teams, select & rec. But Thursday night Catcher Dude filled in on a rec team (the A's) @ BMAC. He helped them collect their second win of the season, 6-3. He was blocking balls like a mad man. He scored twice. which they invited him to play again this Monday. Then another rec team (Chargers) asked if he could sub this Monday and the remainder of their fall ball season which is another 4-5 games. See this is what happens when teams allow kids to play more than one sport. They end up being short and have to look outside to fill the line up. But good for CD. So at least he extended his fall ball games for another 6-7 more games. His rec team (Rhino's) have one more double header Saturday then their done as well.

Then what will Spring/Summer 2008 ball bring? Well it really is in the air. As it breaks down this is the options:

Triple A:

Offered a position on their team. They are considering just playing tournaments and not league. Which could free CD up to play a second team.

Longhorns (Select Silver):

Still on their team and our expecting him back to start workouts in January.

1. Not play Triple A, and play this level.
2. Which he could play as a second team when not playing tournaments with Trip A.

Rhinos (Flor. Rec team):

Choices here are about the same as above

ONE: Drop all together.
TWO: Have him practice and play as a third team and only show up when not playing with above.

Which really I do not see as an option. I am not for dragging them along. They probably deserve more than he can offer them. But who knows, he owns a uniform so they might.

A's & Chargers (BMAC & MH Rec team):

They are offering to pay every cost and play as a 3rd choice (which is really a 4th choice) and just show up when ever he can and play whenever he can. Not expecting more than that.

So will DH bend again and let him continue with more than one team? Will the balls all align and it all fall into place? I really don't know. But decisions need to be made. Monies are due by Dec 1.

Ah .... decisions, decisions ..

All I know is I want to sit and have a good cry and have no clue why. I wish I could pin point what is making me so sad about all this. I do know I hate making these types of choices. *sigh* I should really talk to Catcher Dude, seriously ..

10 feet under

That is where our brand new sewer line is installed as of yesterday. Woo Hoo!! I should not have to call another company to open up my sewer line. I am very happy we finally learned about the unilateral program that we pay the city to do shit (no pun intended) shit like this.
I am just happy it is all finished. Now maybe we can start on remodeling the basement. That was a project we put off and put off.

Monday moan .. weekend recap.

Monday morning and kicking our butts all the way. These new school hours are going to be the death of me, us.

Catcher Dude just doesn't get to sleep early enough so he can get up at 5:55 to catch a 6:30 bus. I am sorry, this is WAY to early for a child. But he can go to bed early, he was in bed by 8, but still be wide awake. He was still up at 11 (I believe, I was in bed by then).

He wouldn't even eat breakfast this morning he was still so tired. But then again with new time change he eats lunch at 9:55 am. So why bother.

WEEKEND RECAP ....

This weekend was nice. Saturdays games was were good. Long day as usual. Left house around 11 a.m. and didn't get home until around 9-10 p.m.

He ended up playing 2.5 games. They wanted him to play 1/2 the second game, when we planned on just leaving after the first. The first game was 6-5. Close game. Catcher dude caught most of this game. He pitched (UGH) part of the second game. When we left second inning they were tied 2-2. So I can't say what happened after we left.

We got to the third game in plenty of time with staying longer at first team longer than originally planned. LH game was a land slide. 17-7. CD was playing awesome. They are trying to train a back up catcher for this team (better get a full-time catcher as CD is looking to move on) so they pulled him when they got so far ahead. Afterwards we went to dinner. But as usual, I was done before we hit the restaurant and didn't want to be there.

Sunday one game day and windy as heck! I was miserable yesterday. The area we were in was terribly windy and without rain lately the dirt was flying. I was eating dirt. Blah! But they played well even though there was a lot of times for dirt flying. Score was 12-5 so they ended the tourney on a split 2-2 and placing 5th, Not bad.

We headed out of there in a rush as since we won Saturday night instead of pulling 10 a.m. or 12 p.m. slot we pulled 2 p. Catcher dude was to be at a try-out at 4 p. But I emailed them the night before and they still wanted him there. We actually was only about 10-15 minutes later, and it was just enough time as they just finished warming up and playing catch. Which of course CD didn't even need. Actually when we got there we found 3 other kids from his team there. LOL.

12U- Select Gold - Team with strong core group of players looking for
additional talented and dedicated players for 2008 spring/summer season. We will
be a competitive AAA team and play approximately 45-50 games including one or
two out-of-town tournaments (Cooperstown, NY and possibly KC or Columbia).

The dirt flying was just as bad there and I was DONE. Stick a fork in me I was over cooked. UGH. But I couldn't pull him and leave so I sucked it up. He actually had a great tryout. DH said that was the BEST he ever seen him play. That is HUGE coming from DH. LOL

So that is the weekend recap. Catcher Dude had a great time won all the games he played, did awesome at his tryouts, and didn't get hurt. That is all worth the eating of dirt, sitting in bright sun, and cranky as all heck.

Here again ... Friday

This week has just flown by. I some times wonder if that is a good thing or a bad thing?

Keeping in line with the theme this month. I had more things break this week. No new surprise there. The brakes went out again. Well I guess I say that as it was just the other day. But I got the original factory brakes to last waaaaaaayyyyy longer then the replacement pads. That bites. But have to have them. Well guess I could try a Fred Flintstone and stop with my feet but not sure that would be the best solution. Hopefully they will last longer this time.

Then on Wednesday I realized the camcorder wasn't acting right and silly me I thought I just had a setting changed and ran by the store and ask them to help me out. Oh of course there is a problem with it and I need to check it in. OH! but wait, the warranty ran out. So I just am dealing with it as is. I needed it to tape parts of the catcher dude's game for dad.

So better news this week, it looks like the city will be taking care of the sewer line, and the well be replacing it. The different companies (gas, electric, cable, etc) have come out and marked up my yard. Looks like I am decorating for holidays already with all the bright reds, oranges, and green paint out there. LOL

Wednesday's game .. Well that wasn't the nicest game we have played in the tourney. First of all they opposing team stacked their players. Oh yeah, it is so important to stack a little league game. WTF ever. So with that stacked against them the actually didn't do bad. 5 innings. 10-0. Eh, easy come easy go. Least we will draw the early game Sunday and kid will make his baseball try-outs for another team. Catcher Dude was having an off game, but so would I with all the drama.

Another baseball weekend. Kid has a game Saturday at 2 & 4 with one team and then has a 6 o'clock tourney game with the other. So he will play the 2 o'clock game then leave those fields and head to the 6 o'clock game. Then like I said earlier they should draw the early game on Sunday @ 10 a.m. Then head over to the try-outs for the triple A select silver team from 4-6.

So should be another drop busy weekend. Kid and the hubby dude have another preseason hockey game tonight. They actually had to give away. *gasp* Their tickets for Saturday's game as baseball takes top prize right now.

Then of course bright and early Monday the new school hours go into effect.

Monday? Already?

The weekends are just a blur anymore. We pack so much into two days it is getting to be a little overwhelming. Saturday catcher dude had a double header. We spent 6 hours at the ballpark. What a long day.

First game went 5 innings. They lost 6-9. Kid caught most of this game.

Second game went 5 innings. They won 12-11. Kid played field most of this game. TG! They didn't have him pitch. I do not like him pitching and this team likes to have him pitch.

Sunday we had a game with the other team. I really messed this up. I got the time wrong. I thought we had a 2 o'clock game, and in fact it was a noon game. So he was late by 15 minutes. *oy* this was not okay. Not with catcher dude, DH, or even myself.

He quickly was put in catching. Caught the rest of the game. They lost 8-9. Bummer. The tournament resumes Wednesday. They play Wednesday, Saturday, and twice on Sunday.

Tryouts for Spring 2008 will start on Saturday October 8. So off to the drawing board again. Private lessons start in 3 weeks. Time is just flying.

Dinner tonight ~Mac-and-Cheese Soup~

Catcher Dude saw this recipe and begged me all week to make this. I figured I would go to the trouble and he wouldn't. He is on his third bowl. I am impressed. :-)

From Parent's magazine.

Mac-and-Cheese Soup

15 min 5 min prep
6 servings

1 pkg. (32 oz.) reduced-sodium chicken broth
6 oz. small pasta shells
1 bag (16 oz.) frozen broccoli, cauliflower, and carrot blend
1 1/2 cups low-fat milk
2 Tbs. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

In large saucepan, bring broth to a boil over medium heat. Add pasta, return to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered 5 minutes. Add vegetables. Cook until pasta and vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes more.

Combine milk and flour in a sealable container and shake until well combined. Stir into pasta mixture. Cook and stir until thick and bubbly. Gradually add the cheese, stirring until melted.

Another when it rains ...

... it pours week.

Alright so again, when one thing occurs of course something else has to get all screwy too. Right? Oh course. First on Sunday night I was on my cell phone and it died. I at first thought it was the battery, so I went to charge it. Still has not come back to life. But I tried in DH phone and it works so not the battery. I tried his in mine, nope .. nada. Now seeing these are brand new phones (less then 6 months) that is a little disheartening. So Monday morning I take off to the repair center here. Their computer systems are totally down.

So I wait ... and wait ... still no computers and they FINALLY tell me "Oh we would have to order that phone, out of stock." GRRR You could not have told me this before? So I call the customer service center and having one shipped. But apparently nothing was saved on my chip so I lost everything on my phone. All my numbers and contacts. Great some of those numbers I ONLY had on my cell. *sigggghhhhh* But at least under warranty and a new one is on it's way. They loaned me one until it comes. (Guess that is a bright side of things moment)

Then I get home Monday from that and again sewer troubles. Now I just had this cleaned on 8-23-07 (umm yeah less then a month) I did as they suggested and spent the $$$ money to have a camera sent down to see what the problem is and then I am suppose to submit the tape, report, receipts from all the repairs, and pp tax to city and they are suppose to reimburse my money for the camera fee and also fix the troubles since I pay the unilateral tax to cover this sort of shit. Sounds simple enough right? HA!

They send the camera down and it is not clean. All this time I have had this company come out and clear out the troubles, they are not solving the problem. They are only poking small holes in the trouble areas, just enough to clear it out for a bit. UGHH. I am way beyond pissed at this point. The money I have paid for the camera service, just went down the sewer. I have to have the sewer line cleared out properly and then have it filmed again, yeah and pay again.

Needless to say I was on the phone with the company I have been paying since 2001. They have until Monday to get their asses out here and truly clear this line, and bring their own camera to prove it is clear. They will NOT be charging me or I will be on the phone with BBB and local news channels. This is BULL SH*T. So we will see how that goes.

But I will still have to have the "approved" city company come back out and film this. Though on the flip side .. if the clear it properly this time, I just might NOT HAVE ANOTHER Ficken problem.

So you would think that is the end of my woo's. HA!!

Third thing in 3 days .. Today DHL delivers my new phone, still bummed I do not have numbers, but whatcha going to do, eh? lol. So I go to leave to return loaner as I want to show good faith and return promptly. I notice truck doesn't start right off as normal. (Thinking to self .. hmmm .. well it is getting older) So I get to cellular company, drop off thank them again. Go to leave truck really takes a few more seconds. (Thinking to self .. um, this truck better not be breaking) Get to grocery store to buy ingredients for this soup recipe I found for Catcher Dude. I come out go to start truck ... um ... hello this isn't starting.

Battery?
Alternator?
Starter?

FLICK!! FLICK!!! It starts .. now not thinking to self .. screaming in my brand new phone to DH. I AM ON MY WAY I AM NOT KILLING THIS TRUCK. GET THE HELL OUT HERE AND WE HAVE GOT TO GET THIS FIXED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sigh. Battery bad. Least nothing major.

But still my pocket book is flat now. *tears* Okay that is enough for this week. Thanks.

Busy Weekend

This weekend is just flying by. Even though we have had a long weekend, it is flying by. Couldn't even sleep in one day. *oy*

Friday DH, SGP, GP, Catcher Dude, and myself loaded up and went to ballpark all day so DH & SGP could help out Catcher Dude with several different drills and such. After 3 hours I was ready to go, though Catcher Dude wasn't. I was starving. Then later that night catcher dude and I went to fields to watch a family friend play his first soccer game. How cute was those 2nd graders that have never played? When we got home we sat outside for a while, DH had started a fire and it was nice just to swing and enjoy the warmth. But really couldn't stay out to late as Saturday was another big day and we had to be up by 6.

I also learned one of the games on Saturday (Longhorn) had been cancelled and hopefully rescheduled soon. So now instead of 3 games Saturday it was only 2.

Saturday was SO SO busy. By 8:30 pm I was so tired I wanted to cry. We went to fanfest. That started at 9, so we left and was there by 8:50 so we could be there as much as possible until we had to leave at 12:30. After rushing out of there we trucked on over to Catcher Dude's double header games at 2 and 4. They lost the first game 4-6. But the second game was a winner 9-5. CD was playing an awesome game. He was blocking balls like no body's business. He was even throwing people out left and right on second and third. Though some where along the line one of the coaches thought it would be a good idea to see catcher dude pitch. So for 2 innings catcher dude became pitcher dude. My nerves could have done without that one.

He has tripled improved in just the short 9 weeks he has been with this select team. I am so proud of him. I truly believe the saying, "Your only as good as your weakest player". He was playing with those rec players and just stuck in a rut. He wasn't improving, it was almost like his playing level was going down to theirs. I am so glad we moved on. :-)

After that we went to dinner, but by then I was toast. I didn't want to eat, I didn't want to talk, I didn't even want to be in an upright position. Of course we didn't get to sleep in on Sunday either.

Sunday back up and going by 6:30. Out the door by 8. DH had bowling. CD and I had to tag along because we had a birthday party to go straight from there. We finally get to the party and hung out there for a while, but we were all dragging and decided to come home a little earlier than planned to rest. But it wasn't for long for CD and DH. They were back out the door by 3 to go to the hockey game.

I am just going to do things around here tonight and get ready for the upcoming school week. MAN, I am not sure where our 3-day weekend went. I need days to recover from weekend.

half day, one of my favorite days

So today catcher dude had a half day, if you want to call it that. Let's go to school at 7:30 and get home by 10:30 a 1/2 day. lol. Still it was a fun day. We dropped off the dad man to catch his ride. Then we went to lunch. Chinese Food. We haven't had Chinese in a while. I always seem
to get a headache afterwards, but for Catcher Dude :P it is all good. Then we went shopping for a pair of jeans. *oh joy* Okay seriously .. what happen to my easy shopper? *oy* Finally we agree on a pair. The rest of the afternoon wasn't really highlight material. Pay a bill, mail deposit for catcher clinic, and a stroll in a Halloween shop. But wasn't really about what we did, but that we did it together. Who am I kidding, I know these days are numbered. That is why I treasure them every second I get them. *smile*

So tomorrow is one of our first favorite days. Yep! 1/2 days come in second to all day no school. So beautiful cooler weather, no school, rain (hopefully) not in the forecast, baseball weekend ... YEESSSSS sounds like a great weekend.

Remember ...

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I really even after six years dread this day. I really wonder if there will come a year this date will come and go and images from that day burned in my memory come flying back. I still remember the look in my 6 year olds eyes. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket The days following we glued ourselves to the TV, but yet didn't want them on. I think of all those lost mommies, daddies, children, friends, families, love ones, and so on.

What Age Do You Act?

You Are 17 Years Old

Under 12: You are a kid at heart. You still have an optimistic life view - and you look at the world with awe.

Raining again.

This rain managed to ruin the whole weekend. The game today, and the two games on Sunday have been postponed. Yeah that makes for a happy, happy family.

Today has been a nada type day. I did clean out closet in living room. Yeah I know the basement is still sitting down there wanting attention. I just don't have that type of energy.

Kid went to a friends house from OLP. J hadn't called in a while. He ended up leaving OLP as well this year. OLP had their homecoming this weekend, so kid went with them. He is going to spend the night.

Left DH and myself to ourselves. Woo hoo. Big stuff going on now. NOT. We made dinner, ate, and then watched a DVD togther, Ghostship, while I cross-stitched. We did later go out for ice cream, sat out in the rain and ate. :) That was fun.

That is the big night for us.

Need a Science Project?

You've been assigned a Science Fair project!

What topic are you going to choose?
How do you get started?
What data will you collect?
How do you draw conclusions?
What will you graph?
HELP!

Another mom shared this tonight and I thought I would tuck this away for safe keepings. Maybe it will even help out someone else. :)

Dinner together

Actually a home cooked. Sit at the kichen table. Pass the salt & pepper. Conversation passed between two people. Dinner.

With the rain out tonight it let me actually make a dinner, clear off the table, turn off the TV & computer, and sit and talk to catcher dude. I am sorry the DH missed out.

Menu:

* Roast Beef
* Gravy
* Mashed Potatoes
* Broccoli
* Milk (*gasp*) for the kid
* Raspberry White Tea for me

Nice.

Rain, rain, stole the game

Well isn't that just the way it is. No rain for days, weeks, and have baseball scheduled the rest of the weekend and it plans on raining the whole dang time. So game cancelled tonight. Hoping for better on Saturday and Sunday.

They need this rule in little league too.

Block them balls.

Rain, rain go away

So catcher dude is suppose to have a game this evening. But it rained yesterday and is already sprinkling this morning. Uh-yeah this is not good news. Well ... shhhhh but it really is for Cather Dude's dad. Now hopefully they will reschedule when he can go. :) But I did not say that out loud. As Catcher Dude would really be mad if he knew I was rooting for rain out. So I will keep an eye out on that development. What I am afraid of game is not until 6. But I have to leave by 3:30. I certainly hope they make a decision before I drive out all that way.

He also has a game on Saturday and a double header on Sunday I am worried about. It isn't suppose to stop with this on and off again rain until Saturday. This could really effect the fields. *crossing fingers* they will get some baseball in. Or I am moving as I do not want to hear it all weekend.

Nothing really exciting round here. Had a chip repaired in my windshield on Tuesday. Uh-yeah because I let DH drive it. lol. With holiday this week, the week is flying for me. I can not believe it is already Thursday. The weekend is almost here.

Remember the Sixties

This presentation focuses more on the good stuff. Music, TV, inventions and styles. It merely touches on the darkness with mention of Vietnam escalation, and the assassinations
...one statement it makes was true...we were the last innocent generation.

Incentive time

A friend came up with this idea for her children, and I fell in love with it so much I decided to adapt this for us.

My son is not the best reader. He will get out of reading to save his life. So to see if I can get kid to read by by giving him an incentive, note bribe. LOL. We purchased a thermometer goal poster (you know the thing you see people use when they are trying to raise money) to fill out for every page that is read. Then I am sponsoring him a certain amount of money for every page that is read. So everyday he reads he will color in the thermometer with how many pages he read. If he meets his goal in the time allotted he can cash in his pages for cash.

I also asked my mother if she wanted to help in this and

So this is how it will all break down:

Starting : Saturday September 1, 2007
Ending: Saturday May 31, 2008
Goal: 5,000 pages

As of right now the sponsorship stands:
Me: 3.5 cents per page
Dh: 2 cents per page
My mother: 5 cents per page

So if he makes his goal, he stands to make $525. But again this falls directly on him. No reminders. This is his responibility. So we will see.

Blog Scrolling

So today I was scrolling blogs and came across a interesting blog.

What's for lunch

This recipe in paticular really sparked my interest.

Stuffed Corn Muffins

I promise, nothing complicated about these.

All you need is a box of Jiffy corn muffin mix (and whatever you need to make it, milk & an egg?), leftover cooked chicken and either leftover or frozen mixed veggies.

* Mix up the corn muffin mix per the box.

* Chop up the leftover chicken and stir it into the muffin mix.

* Throw the veggies in too.

* Then spoon it into cupcake wrappers & bake per the directions on the package.

Voila--meat, veggies & a starch. And it's fairly un-messy. I got about 12 from one box of muffin mix.

Helpful hints.

How many of these did YOU know about?

A sealed envelope - Put in the freezer for a few hours, then slide a
Knife under the flap. The envelope can then be resealed.

==============================
Use Empty toilet paper roll to store appli ance cords . It keeps them
Neat and you can write on the roll what appliance it belongs to.

======================
For icy door steps in freezing temperatures: get warm water and put
Dawn dish washing liquid in it. Pour it all over the steps. They won't
Refreeze. (wish I had known this for the last 40 years!)

======================
To remove old wax from a glass candle holder , put it in the freezer for
a few hours. Then take the candle holder out and turn it upside down. The
Wax will fall out.

=======================================
Crayon marks on walls? This worked wonderfully! A damp rag, dipped
In baking soda. Comes off with little effort (elbow grease that is !).

=====================
Permanent marker on appliances/counter tops (like store re! ceipt
BLUE!) rubbing alcohol on paper towel.

=====================
Whenever I purchase a box of S.O.S Pads, I immediately take a pair of
Scissors and cut each pad into halves. After years of having to throw
Away rusted and unused and smelly pads, I finally decided that this would
Be much more economical. Now a box of S.O.S pads last me indefinitely!
In fact, I have noticed that the scissors get 'sharpened'' this way!

======================
Blood stains on clothes? Not to worry! Just pour a little hydrogen
Peroxide on a cloth and proceed to wipe off every drop of blood. Works
Every time! (Now, where to put the body?) LOL

======================
Use vertical strokes when washing windows outside and horizontal
For inside windows. This way you can tell which side has the streaks.
Straight vinegar will get outside windows really clean. Don't wash windows
On a sunny day. They will dry too quickly and will probably streak.

=======================

Spray a bit of perfume on the light bulb in any room to create a lovely
Light scent in each room when the light is turned on.

=====================
Place fabric softener sheets in dresser drawers and your clothes will
Smell freshly washed for weeks to come. You can also do this with towels
And linen.

=====================
Candles will last a lot longer if placed in the freezer for at least 3
Hours prior to burning.

======================
To clean artificial flowers, pour some salt into a paper bag and add the
Flowers. Shake vigorously as the salt will absorb all the dust and dirt
And leave your artificial flowers looking like new! Works like a charm!

======================
To easily remove burnt on food from your skillet , simply add a drop or
Two of dish soap and enough water to cover bottom of pan, and bring to
a boil on stove top.

======================
Spray your TUPPERWARE with nonstick cooking spray before pouring
In tomato based sauces and there won't be any stains.

======================
Wrap celery in aluminum foil when putting in the refrigerator and it will
Keep for weeks.

======================
When boiling corn on the cob, add a pinch of sugar to help bring out the
Corn's' natural sweetness

.=======================
Cure for headaches: Take a lime, cut it in half, and rub it on your
Forehead. The throbbing will go away.

=======================
Don't throw out all that leftover wine: Freeze into ice cubes for future
Use in casseroles and sauces .
======================
To get rid of itch from mosquito bites, try applying soap on the area
And you will experience instant relief.

=======================
Ants, ants, ants everywhere .. Well, they are said to never cross a chalk
Line. So, get your chalk out and draw a line on the floor or wherever ants
Tend to march. See for yourself.

===========================
Use air-freshener to clean mirrors. It does a good job and better still,
Leaves a lovely smell to the shine.

===========================
Now look what you can do with Alka Seltzer........
Clean a toilet.
Drop in two Alka Seltzer tablets, wait twenty minutes, brush and flush.
The citric acid and effervescent action clean vitreous.

===========================
Clean a vase.
To remove a stain from the bottom of a glass vase or cruet, fill with water
And drop in two Alka Seltzer tablets.

====================
Polish jewelry.
Drop two Alka Seltzer tablets into a glass of water and immerse the
Jewelry for two minutes.

====================
Clean a thermos bottle.
Fill the bottle with water, drop in four Alka Seltzer tablets, and let soak
for an hour (or longer, if necessary).

====================
Unclog a drain.
Clear the sink drain by dropping three Alka Seltzer tablets down the
drain followed by a cup of Heinz White Vinegar. Wait a few minutes,
and then run the hot water.
