IHOP - Free Pancake Short Stack 2/24/09

*This is a sticky post.*
*New Post may be below.*

IHOP will give away free pancakes on February 24... See page for more info.

About National Pancake Day

February 24, 2009
Known also as Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras, National Pancake Day dates back several centuries to when the English prepped for fasting during Lent. Strict rules prohibited the eating of all dairy products during Lent, so pancakes were made to use up the supply of eggs, milk, butter and other dairy products…hence the name Pancake Tuesday, or Shrove Tuesday.

Since beginning its National Pancake Day celebration in 2006, IHOP has raised nearly two million dollars to support charities in the communities in which it operates. With your help, we hope to raise $1,000,000 for Children’s Miracle Network in 2009!

Changes & Catch Up.

So I am not sure if I like this or not. I was bored. But I am not sure how this is. But I am tired of messing with it. So it stays. Like it or not. I just can not make layouts like some of you lucky people can. LOL. So least for now it will stay. [Edit on Monday: I didn't leave it! I couldn't get comfortable with what it looked like. If I could had just tweeked a couple things, it would have stayed. Oh Well]

Next item of business ..

The Vlog.

So that bombed out BIG TIME!! I could never get Catcher Dude and myself in the same room. So I ended up just scratching that whole idea. lol.

I had received my big ol' book from Gary, from Pottery Blog and wanted to Vlog opening it. Well as I said, I tired of waiting to be able to open it. So I just opened it. I did take pictures, though the camera is now in car, so that will also have to wait. But I will say I am very happy with the turn out. I am one lucky baseball mom!!

Next item of business ..

The 6 week follow up appointment from Surgery.

So I went to the Doctors on Thursday and he said I was all good to go. So time for the 2nd surgery. So anytime I am ready. Ready? Is he kidding me? Fine! So when I start looking over calendar I am finding there is no open times. NONE! Baseball is in full swing, and right now Catcher Dude has some type of this or that everyday. Only a few more weeks and tournaments & games start. With dad dude working nights, I am it. There is no one else to step up to the plate. Much less the DR only does surgeries in A.M. Ummm .. dad dude is now in school of the a.m so he sure as heck can not take and stay with me. Oy! Then they drop another bomb, this time I have to stay over night. Um .. what? Oh yeah that made life even easier. NOT!!

So seeing how it is not something we have to do right now .. I am thinking October. His scheduling nurse didn't think that was all that funny. But seriously? I am going to take myself? I am going to leave Catcher Dude home alone? Have him miss things he is required to attend? Lose money invested? *sigh*

This is a two part deal. Taking either 4 days straight, or can be broke down 2 days and then 2 days. Well we have been looking over our calendar for 2 days now and I am not closer to getting a date in mind. Other than after the season is over. Sometime in the fall. But some how I do not think the DR saying, "Not a rush." Translate to I can wait until the fall. LOL.

Next item of business ..

The rest of the weekend.

Quiet weekend. No camp scheduled this weekend for Saturday, and today's was cancelled for a Fundraiser. So I have gotten to stay in my PJ's all weekend. Now that is a treat all by itself. [thinking: To bad couldn't do surgery yesterday.] I am supposed to be getting around now to be ready to go out after dad dude & Catcher dude get home from bowling. But I have no desire to go out.

It is colder again outside. Yesterday morning we woke to another snow dusting. Though it is gone today. I am still tired of this cold and snow.

Well. That is it on my what's going on in this clubhouse weekend addition.

I am loved

By The Queen. She left me the cuties present at the castle.

wtf249

I tell ya, this couldn't have been given to me at any better time. My evening has been H-E-Double Hockey sticks.

First we were held up in traffic so Catcher Dude was late to his agility workout and baseball practice. We left at 3:30 pm to make a 4:30 start time. We arrived at 5:03 pm. Yeah! Nice!!

Then some lil PITA child tries to steal Catcher Dudes bat. Why? Because he thought someone left it. Oh?!? Yeah, makes sense. Only sitting right next to his bag, his bag that was not packed and had all his sh!t spread all out. But yes! I see your point! The dads response. Well it is a nice bat. *thud*

Third, accident blocking lanes on hwy coming home. Making another long a$$ trip back home. Oy!

Calgon take me away!!

But Queen must have gotten a vibe of troubles and made me a nice gift to come home to. :)

Thanks Queen!!

10 on Tuesday - C

10 on Tuesday brought to you today by the letter "C".
In really no particular order .. Well #1 is my top favorite. *wink*

1. Catcher Dude. Of Course! I love him the most of all my "C" picks.

2. Catcher. I have all love and admiration for those who catch. What a hard position. Mind and Body.

3. Chevrolet. I currently drive one, and I am in love. First automobile I have owned that *knock on some wood* I have not had a drip of trouble with.

4. Candy. Oh yes, I am a candy friend, not that it is a friend to me. Mike & Ikes, Sour patch kids, hot tamales, and skittles top the list.

5. Chocolate. In small amounts. I am more of a candy person. But I partake in a chocolate here and there.

6. Candles. Who doesn't like a nice candle. But if I pay $$$ for one, I have a hard time burning it. So I stay away from pretty, $$, ones.

7. Christmas. I love the season. (I know I am crazy) But I love the lights, the smells, the sounds, the sights, you name it. Parties, gifting, get together, and the kindness that seems to over take the young and old.

8. Counted Cross-Stitch. I love, when I have time to cross-stitch. I have so many lil projects started, just waiting to be finished.

9. Crochet. Yep! I am a fan of this as well. I tend to stay with a select few items I make. Some times I like to make larger projects, but I also like the quick and easy. Fast satisfaction.

10. Cards. Not of the credit kind, not the Email kind, but the "open your mailbox and there one is!" It is so heart warming to recieve cards. I  them.

More About You & Me.

My pal Gary wanted to know more about his readers, so put up this set of questions. I wanna know more about YOU. Here's what I say, then you can copy the list below my answers and paste into comments and introduce yourself!!!!!!!

1. How was your day? It has been most good so far. Cold again, 25 degrees, but also very sunny. My house is smelled so good earlier in the day, had that fresh laundry smell about. I took Catcher Dude to TKD. He was excited to be able to take the morning class, and got his new belt. Also I got to watch him pitch & catch. He had pitching tonight and afterwards caught for the other boys. What a sweet heart!!

2. Do you prefer sweet or salty foods? I think a lil of both. I am not a chocolate fan. But a good box of Mike & Ikes, or Sour patch kids. Oh My!! I also love nuts. (Watch it!! This is a "G" rated blog .. lol) I just bought Honey roasted Peanuts & Pistachios. Chips? Eh, some. But I do like tortilla chips & salsa. Pretzels. But potato chips, not the biggest fan.

3. Do you like to go out or stay in? This varies. I we run so much at a full blown speed, sometimes it is nice to stay in. Though I do enjoy watching Catcher Dude play ball. The preparing for the season sometimes wears me out.

4. What's your favorite type of music? I am an all 'round type of girl. I will listen to Hubby's play list of 80's & oldies. I will listen to Catcher Dude's play list of today music. I will not listen to and neither does any family member RAP. Ugh!! I am also a country fan. Country from today, not so much to older ones.

5. What's your favorite color? Whatever color(s) Catcher Dudes team colors. LOL. This year I am looking at Navy & Gold, and Red & Royal Blue.

6. Have you ever taken a ride in a hot air balloon? Would you like to? No I have not. I might. I dunno. Seems a bit much for me I think. I do enjoy watching the balloon races they have here over the summer. They are really pretty. But I think probably my feet will stay on the ground!! LOL.

YOUR TURN!!!!!

1. How was your day?
2. Do you prefer sweet or salty foods?
3. Do you like to go out or stay in?
4. What's your favorite type of music?
5. What's your favorite color?
6. Have you ever taken a ride in a hot air balloon? Would you like to?

Not Me! Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

Good Morning Monday! I am not ready to embrace you! It has been a fast and furious weekend as always! But I am not complaining. Actually we (kid and I) have a 3-day weekend, so not bad!! Today is another action packed day. There will be TKD in the morning. There will be taking dad dude to catch his ride. There will be pitching lessons. There will be laundry, cleaning, and all sorts of household chores. So yeah! A day without dullness for sure.

So on to our my part of Monday. Not Me! Monday!

I did not let catcher dude eat pizza for breakfast yesterday morning before he left for Catcher Camp, because he told me the carbs would be better for him than the eggs I wanted to make. Nope, nadda, not I!!

Today is my last dentist appointment. I did not cancel it so I could take Catcher Dude to the morning session of TKD.

I will not be in hiding when the parents in Catcher Dudes TKD class discover he got one belt last week, and will receive his next belt this week. [I still in awe of him. He is doing so well.] Nope! Not Me!

Catcher Dude's school is not on my last nerve. Which so I am not making excuse after excuse to not volunteer my time. Nope! Not me! I just love being up there.

I am not trying to think of more things for this list, which ignoring the fact I told Catcher Dude I would be right there ...

10 minutes ago. Nope! Not me! I always come running when my child needs/wants me.

Well another fun Not Me! Monday!

Now I am off to help Catcher Dude workout and do massive amounts of laundry for Catcher dude .. because he always gives me his clothes to wash when I ask, so he does not have an over flow today .. No! Not him!!

Happy Monday!!

Happy Valentine's Day

Though the date on the calendar reads .. Saturday February 14th, 2009. Though there is the writing of "Valentine's Day" on the square assigned to this date on the calendar. Putting all that on the side.

Today will be like any other day. Any other Saturday. You can't tell here in Baseballville, that it is any other day. Grocery shopping is on the list. Errands are on this list. TKD on the list. Baseball, of course, is on the list. LOL.

Just another day on the calendar. A calendar that never rests. LOL.

Hope everyone in bloggie land has the best day!!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!

Proud Baseball Mom Mom

So tonight I am going to do brag about my catcher dude son. But this brag will not have to do nadda with Baseball if you can believe that one. LOL!

So as I have stated before Catcher Dude started TKD [post here. Also where I talk about chipmunk dude] in the fall and added this to his growing list of activities. I can say I was not all that on board with doing this at first. But I will say his confidence has really gotten better. He holds his head up high and walks with authority now. So these are all good things. He has always had a very respectful attitude.

But it has always been about self- defense, and nothing else, ie .. fighting, aggression, etc. So I have been very pleased with our his results and the program.

Since joining TKD in September he has tested and received 4 belts. His last testing was January 29. But since baseball right now keeps him really busy he had not had a chance to go back since then and go to class or pick-up his new belt.

Last night (Wednesday) he went back to class.
Was presented his new belt and started learning new steps and forms for his next belt. By the end of class last night Master Peasel approached dad dude and I and said he is such a fast learner and picks up his 1st steps and forms so quick that we are actually holding him back.

After 1 night .. 1 .. uno .. he was actually ready to test again. He really felt it was best to let him test again now. Testing was not supposed to be for another 4 weeks. But after having his new belt for one night, he is ready to test again. He will be testing tomorrow evening with the make-up kids that missed January 29Th testing. ONE night!!

Catcher Dude just ceases to amazes me. Always! He is such a great kid. He is quick to pick up things. That is what makes him a great kid. Great Son. Great Student. Awesome Catcher. There is not a coach that has not met him and states how he is the best coach able, wanting to please child they have ever met. They wish they could have 11+ more of him on their teams.

I am so proud of him. He melts this ol' momma heart <3 all the time. I just can not say enough how proud of him I .. we are of him. I really believe he can do anything he puts his mind to.

He just doesn't always apply himself as he should, and cheats himself a lot of times. Oh well .. I will not go down this road.

This is about how FRENCH'in proud I am to call myself his mom! I am a lucky person to have known him. :)

10 on Tuesday - "B"

Because I am bored. Snowed in. Another installment of 10 on Tuesday. Thanks Keepsakes

1. Baby. I am very thankful for the one baby I was able to carry and hold 14 years ago.

2. Balance. My family offers all sorts of balance in my life, and I am truly thankful for that.

3. Breathe. I am thankful for every breathe I am able to take in my lungs as that means I am still here, kicking and stirring up dust.

4. Backyard. I am glad we have a backyard I can send the kid out to play cut the grass and get out of my hair.

5. Baseball. It makes my son so happy, I am thankful it is there to keep him busy and happy.

6. Ball. I am thankful for the ball that went into my neighbors window, as that means hitting lessons are paying off for catcher dude.

7. Brakes. I am most certainly thankful for my outstanding brakes. Without them I would be in a world of hurt. LOL.

8. Blinds. I never thought I would be so grateful for the blinds in my kitchen I can keep closed so my teenager is NOT subject to the nakedness of my back neighbors. (Which if you think about it .. will delete #4 on this list come spring/summer .. DANG IT!!)

9. Butterscotch. What a wonderful flavor. Yum!

10. Bus. I am ever so thankful catcher dude has a bus and that is two less trips I have to make in a day. There were times the bus was not an option for him. But thankfully this year it is a good year.

This one was even harder than the last one. LOL.

"Not Me!" Monday

It is "Not Me!" Monday and I am following MckMama's lead and posting the things I DID NOT DO this week.

I most certainly did not smile and think to myself, "Yeah! About time justice was served." When I heard Chipmunk dude got 10 days.

I did not curse up and down when my favorite sun glasses went missing this past week. So then absolutely did not just go rush over to Another Online Mom blog when I learned she was giving away a pair. Nope! Not Me!!

I certainly did not wake up this morning with a temp and a sore throat. Nope! I am not having that!! So it is all in my head and I am certainly able to continue on with my day. I will not spend most of my day pouting and laying in bed.

I did not keep checking my email to find out when my order from Gary's Pottery will possible be coming. No! I am much more patient then that.

Also I most certainly didn't get all green eye'd monster when I read and saw Farmer*s Wife's anniversary present. I certainly am still happy to drive my cute lil suv.

Happy "Not Me!" Monday!!

Welcome to High School!

So this past week has been lots of informational meetings about the upcoming high school year. The HIGH SCHOOL! As in NINTH GRADE! My baby is going to be going to high school! Start hyperventilating NOW!!

So, I am sitting there listening how they are going to change the normal 7 class schedule, to a 4x4 schedule. That their classes will be 90 minutes long. I am listening to the pro's & con's. The this and the that. Just trying to keep up.

I'm sitting there listening to the teachers talk about course selection and test scores and blah blah blah. As I sat there nicely, listening intently to the fine educators speak. "...from here on out, everything counts. Everything you do in high school will go on your permanent record."

I think I let out a very small, almost dainty snort at this point. Did she really just say "permanent record"?

A group of annoyed parents turned around and gave me the evil eye.

They went on to talk about what a great opportunity this transition is. Studies have indicated that the transition between 8th and 9th grade is the 3rd most traumatic thing you'll go through behind losing your parents or losing a spouse.

Yeah, that's what you want to do - use lots of words like "traumatic" when talking to the kids about starting high school.

He now has a couple days to decide what electives he'd like to take. And, not too much pressure or anything, but these classes will affect your FOUR YEAR PLAN, your plans for beyond high school, your future career, the car you purchase, the home you buy, spouse, and family. One wrong choice and you'll be destined to spend your life living in a cardboard box, and saying things like, "You want fries with that?"

Welcome to high school!

Tuesdays Bad Day (venting BIG time)

Opening Thursday 8:03 am

So this has been a nightmare of a week!! So much I have delayed coming to post about it. So starting with Tuesday ..

Tuesday I had to drop the dad dude off at a meeting so I could not open the middle school snack cart as I usually do. But it had been forever since I got to take lunch up to Catcher Dude. So that is what I decided to do. I took his favorite tacos to him. Remember this post. lol. Anyway. So we had a nice lunch. We discussed the high school meeting he had earlier that morning, glanced through the class schedule book they gave him, I will give this topic it's own post in a minute, so like I said nice, quiet lunch.

Well right then is when I should have gotten the hockey sticks outta dodge as that is when the day fell apart. Oy!

to be continued ...

Continuing Thursday 3:00pm

So Catcher dude goes back to class. I am about to throw are trash away in library trash and decided nah! I will take it to the lunch room. (Wish I could take that back .. looking back) As I get to lunch room the door is closed, as I am about to walk through Chipmunk dude (as he will be called in this story to protect the not so innocent lil punk ass prick of a child.) comes walking out. He proceeds to see who it is (me) and takes both hands and pushes me to where I almost lose my balance and fall on my butt!!

So I spun around seeing Coach P. I tell him he just hit me. Chipmunk dude takes off running up the stairs. Coach P yells for him to stop, but does not. So Coach P takes off up the stairs to get him. Now with the history of Chipmunk dude & this family I just want out of there as quick as possible. So I start heading for the door. "Mrs. K wait! We will be right down!" Is what I hear from the second floor.

"DAMN!" to myself. I just wanted out of there. So I got stopped. I had to fill out a report. But what was to say? Stupid ass, prick of a child Chipmunk dude admits what he did. Tells his same lame story that just floors every staff member, security guard, and cop he ever tells this to.

Now who is Chipmunk dude? Well I looked back in the past posts and apparently I never wrote about are wonderful interactions with said Chipmunk dude back in September. So now I will tell that back story. Well actually before Septembers incident, I have to go back to last school years incident. (Confused yet? Well I am. lol)

Continuing Friday 9:10 am

I have never had so much drama in the household that has kept me from posting a single post!!! Oy!

So anyway I started typing out all the past drama and it is way to much to catch up on. So lets just go with the fact Chipmunk dude is a fat ass bully that has not gotten his way. I so am sick and tired of Chipmunk dude. He has been a thorn all school year, and I am totally through with this lil prick head child.

Finally Saturday

I just went ahead and deleted some of this post and decided to take it out of draft mode. I will update this by saying that Chipmunk got 10 days. (or so I have heard through grapevine.) FINALLY he is getting some consequence to all his BS he has caused.

Happy Happy Friday

I am so glad to see Friday here. It has been a roller coaster week. That is for sure. I have started many posts the last couple days, but I just ramble on and on and never come to an end. So I am leaving them in draft, and moving forward.

I can not change the past. So I am leaving the past in the past. Moving forward.

Today is a tad warmer than it has been recently. Which I am glad. The snow has almost melted. Which I am glad. I think I am ready for spring. I am ready for warmer weather, now don't get me wrong I am not wanting HOT, just warm. Light jacket/no jacket weather would be nice.

Of course today is baseball practice this afternoon. Weekend should be filled with the same. Just the same ol' same ol' weekend. But I am looking for the norm right now. I had enough of the roller coaster ride for this week. Next week? Well we will have to see. LOL.
