Catcher Ducks, Umpire Gets Hit With Pitch

Okay I think they are making way more out of this then need be. Even and I stress even if this was done on purpose .. he was in no way hurt. I take balls off the mask all the time. I actually think this is pretty funny. I wouldn't mind doing this to a few umps we have had this summer. rofl.

I will state now for the record .. my views are not of those of my parents .. (giggle)

A Georgia high school pitcher and catcher are under investigation for an incident Saturday in which an umpire was hit in the face with a pitch.

According to several published reports, in the fourth inning of the AAA championship game in Cartersville, Ga., Stephens County catcher Matt Hill ducked and pulled his glove down, allowing the pitch from Cody Martin to hit the umpire in the face mask.

The umpire, Jeff Scott, was not injured.

Reports suggested the play could have been retaliation against the Scott, who had called out nine Stephens County batters in a row on strikes. Martin's brother, Ethan Martin, is the team's shortstop and was the last batter to strike out.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported that Stephens County principal apologized to the state high school association, but admitted no wrongdoing. Coach Mark Gosnell said the incident was a mixup between the pitcher and catcher.

CYLONES BOW OUT IN SEMI-FINALS AT USSSA IN BRIDGETON

STEADY DEFENSE AND GOOD PITCHING WERE IN ABUNDANCE AS THE CYCLONES WERE BACK IN ACTION IN BRIDGETON. THE BATS, HOWEVER, WERE A LITTLE QUIET.

THE BOYS MANAGED TO WIN THE FIRST TWO GAMES DURING POOL PLAY, PREDOMINANTLY ON THEIR DEFENSE.

THE THIRD POOL PLAY GAME PITTED THE MIGHTY CYCLONES AGAINST THE RED-LEGS. THE RED-LEGS CAME PREPARED TO HIT. THEY BRUISED SEVERAL BALLS TO THE DEEP OUTFIELD. THE POOL GAME LOSS RESULTED IN A 3-SEED FOR ELIMINATION PLAY.

AS CHANCE WOULD HAVE IT, THE FIRST ELIMINATION GAME WAS AGAINST THE 2-SEED RED-LEGS. THE RED-LEGS STAYED HOT, AND BOUNCED THE CYCLONES FROM THE TOURNEY.

THAT LEAVES ONE MORE TOURNAMENT IN STL TO TUNE UP FOR COOPERSTOWN. IT MAY BE A WOODEN-BAT TOURNAMENT, SO BE PREPARED FOR SOME SPLINTERS, AND THAT WONDERFUL SMELL OF BURNING WOOD AS THE BALL IS SMASHED BY THAT ASH.

THANKS TO CATCHER DUDES DAD FOR KEEPING THE BOOK DURING THE TOURNAMENT. WHO WOULD FIGURE THAT THE SCORE-KEEPER WOULD BE FOUND ON THE DISABLED LIST!

AS MR. CUB, ERNIE BANKS USED TO SAY, "LET'S PLAY TWO."

CYLONES WIN USSSA MISSOURI STATE QUALIFIER

AFTER A TWO WEEK LAYOFF, THE CYCLONES WERE BACK IN ACTION AT THE USSSA MISSOURI STATE QUALIFIER AT WIEHAUPT PARK IN FLORISSANT. IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL FATHER'S DAY WEEKEND, FULL OF GOOD BASEBALL.

THE RUST SHOWED IN THE FIRST POOL PLAY GAME, AS THE DBX EAGLES BEAT THE CYCLONES 11-3. THE BATS WERE SILENT. ONLY TWO HITS. THE SHORT FENCES YIELDED 3 HOME RUNS TO THE EAGLES. A LITTLE BP PRIOR TO THE SECOND POOL GAME WAS IN ORDER.

THE BATS ERUPTED FOR A 13-0 WIN OVER THE THUNDER IN THE SECOND GAME OF POOL PLAY. SOLID PITCHING BY TAAFFE AND CHANCE WAS SUPPORTED WITH 10 HITS. TAAFFE, KLENOVICH, AND GEORGE HAD TWO HITS APIECE.

A 1-1 RECORD IN POOL PLAY LANDED THE CYCLONES AS A 5-SEED HEADING INTO ELIMINATION PLAY ON SUNDAY.

THE FIRST ELIMINATION GAME WAS A 7-4 WIN OVER THE ST. LOUIS EAGLES. THE OFFENSE WAS PROVIDED BY TAAFFE, WITH TWO HOME RUNS AND KISTNER WITH 2 RBI. MATTHEWS CONTINUED HIS HIGH ON-BASE PERCENTAGE WITH TWO MORE HITS. BIRK DIDN'T HAVE HIS BEST STUFF, BUT BATTLED FOR 4 INNINGS, FOLLOWED BY TWO STRONG INNINGS IN RELIEF BY MILLER.

THE SEMI-FINAL GAME WAS AGAINST A GRITTY WARRIOR TEAM FROM GRANITE CITY. MILLER PITCHED A 6-INNING COMPLETE GAME, YIELDING ONLY 4 HITS AND 3 EARNED RUNS. IT WAS A 4-3 VICTORY. THE BATS WERE LED BY GEORGE WITH 2 HITS, AND A CLUTCH RBI FROM SCHWARZ.

THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME PITTED THE CYCLONES AGAINST THE SAME DBX EAGLES FROM THE FIRST POOL GAME. THE EAGLES CAME INTO THE GAME CONFIDENT. CONTINUING THE WHIFFLE BALL BP PRIOR TO THE GAME, THE CYCLONES WERE STRAINING AGAINST THE BLOCKS.

PITCHING WAS A COLLECTIVE EFFORT TO KEEP THE EAGLES OFF BALANCE. URSCHLER STARTED AND WENT 2 1/3 FEATURING THE FASTBALL, STRIKING OUT 3. CHANCE, THE SOFT-TOSSING SOUTHPAW, CAME IN AND REALLY THREW THE EAGLES OFF BALANCE. CHANCE WENT THROUGH THEIR BIG-BOMBERS FOR 1 2/3 INNINGS, STRIKING OUT TWO. IT WAS THEN BULL-PEN BY COMMITTEE, WITH TAAFFE, BIRK, AND GEORGE COMBINING FOR THE LAST 2 INNINGS.

THE TONE OF THE GAME WAS SET IN THE TOP OF THE FIRST WITH A LEADOFF DOUBLE BY MILLER, WHO SCORED ON A SINGLE BY TAAFFE. MILLER FINISHED WITH 3 HITS, JOINED IN THE BARRAGE BY TAAFFE, BIRK, SCHWARZ, URSCHLER, AND MATTHEWS WITH ONE HIT APIECE. SCHWARZ KNOCKED IN 2 BIG RUNS IN THE 5TH TO PROVIDE THE MARGIN OF VICTORY.

THE CROWD WAS THRILLED, INCLUDING THE SIBLING CHEERING SECTION FROM THE MONKEY-BARS. THEIR CHANT IN THE FINAL 2 INNINGS WAS PRICELESS.

AS JACK BUCK USED TO SAY, "THAT'S A WINNER."

WD-40 Uses

When you read the 'shower door' part, try it. It's the first thing that has
ever cleaned that spotty shower door. If yours is plastic, it works just as
well as glass. It's a miracle! Then try it on your stovetop... Voila! It's
now shinier than it's ever been. You'll be amazed.

Here are some of the uses:

1) Protects silver from tarnishing.

2) Removes road tar and grime from cars.

3) Cleans and lubricates guitar strings.

4) Gives floors that 'just-waxed' sheen without making it slippery.

5) Keeps flies off cows.

6) Restores and cleans chalkboards.

7) Removes lipstick stains.

8) Loosens stubborn zippers.

9) Untangles jewelry chains.

10) Removes stains from stainless steel sinks.

11) Removes dirt and grime from the barbecue grill.

12) Keeps ceramic/terra cotta garden pots from oxidizing.

13) Removes tomato stains from clothing.

14) Keeps glass shower doors free of water spots.

15) Camouflages scratches in ceramic and marble floors.

16) Keeps scissors working smoothly.

17) Lubricates noisy door hinges on vehicles and doors in homes

18) It removes black scuff marks from the kitchen floor! Use WD-40 for those nasty tar and scuff marks on flooring.. It doesn't seem to harm the finish and you won't have to scrub nearly as hard to get them off. Just remember to open some windows if you have a lot of marks.

19) Bug guts will eat away the finish on your car if not removed quickly! Use WD-40!

20) Gives a children's play gym slide a shine for a super fast slide.

21) Lubricates gear shift and mower deck lever for ease of handling on riding mowers.

26) Restores and cleans roof racks on vehicles.

27) Lubricates and stops squeaks in electric fans.

28) Lubricates wheel sprockets on tricycles, wagons, and bicycles for easy handling.

29) Lubricates fan belts on washers and dryers and keeps them running smoothly.

30) Keeps rust from forming on saws and saw blades, and other tools.

31) Removes splattered grease on stove.

32) Keeps bathroom mirror from fogging.

33) Lubricates prosthetic limbs.

34) Keeps pigeons off the balcony (they hate the smell).

35) Removes all traces of duct tape.

36) Folks even spray it on their arms, hands, and knees to relieve arthritis pain.

37) Florida's favorite use is: 'cleans and removes love bugs from grills and bumpers.

38) The favorite use in the state of New York WD-40 protects the Statue of Liberty from the elements.

39) WD-40 attracts fish. Spray a LITTLE on live bait or lures and you will be catching the big one in no time. Also, it's a lot cheaper than the chemical attractants that are made for just that purpose. Keep in mind though, using some chemical laced baits or lures for fishing are not
allowed in some states.

40) Use it for fire ant bites. It takes the sting away immediately and stops the itch.

41) WD-40 is great for removing crayon from walls. Spray on the mark and wipe with a clean rag.

42) Also, if you've discovered that your teenage daughter has washed and dried a tube of lipstick with a load of laundry, saturate the lipstick spots with WD-40 and re-wash. Presto! Lipstick is gone!

43) If you sprayed WD-40 on the distributor cap, it would displace the moisture and allow the car to start.

44) Helps 'unstick/unclog' door and car keyholes
