Tick-Tock

This year is almost done. Let's cross our fingers for a better 2009. WoW! '09. Where does the time go? Seems like it was just December 31, 1999 and we were ringing in 2000. HA!

Well we of course are spending the night in. Dad dude got home from work. He actually worked days this week. So anyway he got home and then went on a munchie's run. Silly man thought stores were closed tomorrow, but they are open. Anyway. What did he bring home?

Well there is :

  • Toasted Ravioli
  • Mozzarella sticks
  • Stuff mushrooms (all mine of course)
  • Krab Dip
  • Kaukauna Port Wine Cheese
and for a special treat for Catcher Dude (because I feel bad for him stuck at home with parents) A $7 tub of Choc. Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream.

Plus he brough home cabbage, black eye'd peas, and ham. I am leaving no stone unturned for this years good fortune. lol.

That is our night. Actually there are some fireworks and snappers in my dresser I am thinking about slipping to CD. I am going to try and make it to midnight for the CD. So I am not taking pain meds yet. Though I might be dieing of pain here soon. lol.

New Year's Resolutions.

I have been thinking about this one. I seem to make them and they never stick. Then I was blog browsing as I do and came across this list, and I knew this was for me. I changed slightly to fit this household, and me. Time to use reverse psychology. That's right!! Thanks to this blogger. I am copying her idea on a fool-proof list of New Year's Resolutions.

  1. I will not lost weight. I will be sure to not lose a single pound this year. I will not eat healthier
  2. I will not drive kid to all his activities. No driving to and from practices, games, clinics, and private lessons. No TKD either.
  3. I will make sure I am never caught up on laundry. Let it pile up!!
  4. I will lose my temper with with hubby and kid on daily bases.
  5. I will procrastinate. Every chance I get.

So there it is. My New Year's Resolutions. See if I can screw this one up as I do every year, or for once in my life I can say I kept my New Years Resolution.

~*~* Happy 2009. To great health, wealth, and happiness this year. ~*~ *

The Scrappy Ribbon Garland

Whitney Caroline Designs: The Scrappy Ribbon Garland

I was guided to this post today and thought it was way to cute not to share.

The Scrappy Ribbon Garland

To celebrate another successful Christmas season for Whitney Caroline Designs, I decided to take all of this year's ribbon scraps and make something wonderful! With the help of two strands of Christmas lights, I believe I have done just that! So, after several hours of tying and trimming, I proudly present, "The Scrappy Ribbon Garland!"

If you go to her blog there is all sorts of photos. I would post here but I do not want to be "stealing" pictures. If I ever get around to doing this with a strand I have here I will post my pictures.

Please visit her blog. It really is a nice place and I only stayed a couple minutes looking around.

Disappearing

All signs of the holidays. CD & CDD took down the lights today from the house. The weather was warm and soon to turn colder so CD thought it would be a good day to take all the outdoor decorations. :(

I love the decorations. It is my favorite part of the holiday season. The tree is still up so I can still sneak in late at night dragging blanket and pillow behind me and snuggle up in my favorite chair and click on the lights and lay and stare. I was totally not in the mood to put the stuff out this year. I really saw no sense. But the one thing that save me this past week was the tree. All the restless nights of not sleeping due to pain or uncomfortableness. I could sneak in and turn on the lights. Watch them. Falling back in and out of sleep. :) I will miss it. Though I bet if I sweet talked bribed catcher dude enough, he will put off taking the tree down for a while longer. lol. Might catch holy heck from CDD as he was told to take it down. lol. But I bet I can stall them for a tad longer. May? June? LOL.

I just don't think we get to enjoy the lights and decorations enough. I want more time. Maybe after Halloween next year? hmmm ...

Sunday this, that, venting all in one

So I am finally getting around to sharing some pictures from Christmas day. It was a nice day. Quiet. Actually my mother surprised me with a digital camera for my Anniversary. (I was very clear we would not be doing Christmas this year!) So she wrapped it up in wedding paper.

Catcher Dude got me a necklace. It is the most precious thing. I can not help but cry every time I read it.

Now Catcher dude .. he raked it in even though Christmas was suppose to be back burner. Mainly clothes. Gift Cards and money.

We had a nice day. No cooking, cleaning, yelling, fighting .. just quiet. We mainly just watched DVD's in bed all day. (Of course what else could I do?)

Tree before it was ransacked.

Catcher Dude opening gift.

What ever. I see 2009 is the year for us to COMPLETELY disagree.
(Mom will have finally say .. my house, my roof, my car that has to transport ya)

Finally putting together car he got 3-4 years ago.

Nothing really new today. I am just trying to stop being bored. I am still feeling like complete doo-doo. I called the Dr. office on Friday. What a waste of time. They were open. But the surgeon on call seeing patients had no clue about my type of surgery. The nurse on call knew nothing about it either. So they both wanted me to come in this week. BUT my Dr. is on vacation.

I am really getting annoyed. I still can not really sit, or stand the pain. I am supposed to drive kid to his baseball camp we bought him starting tomorrow. There is no way. So that money is down the drain!! DH is really pissed off'ed. DS is mad and disappointed.

I really messed up. I should have put my foot down and said NO! But I let this Dr. bully me. So that is the "great" update. I just try to stay out of every one's way. I seem to just make them more mad when I need help. So I just lay .. quiet and try to make no requests.

I tried to tidy up around here today. No one else is doing anything! I managed to crawl down the stairs to do some laundry. I was totally out of under clothes and towels. 3-4x day site baths can do that. That 'bout killed me. But DH is not here he left for the day. DS is sleeping and won't get up and help. As I said before my needing people and help has worn out it's welcome.

Catcher Dude and his clothes .. oy! I am the biggest "pick your battles" type person. But he HAS to find jeans that fit him. I hate the ones he is wearing. We have been 'round and 'round on this. He has to move out of the kids section for jeans, though really in waist he is not ready. The 14's are really to big in the waist, and really, really to short in the length. 16's are just a tad longer, but not enough and they swallow him in waist. Talk about saggin and belt Nada!! .. Oy!

So we tried taking him over to men's. The smallest I could find was 29x30. The length perfect! Waist .. oh boy, he will be suspended by first block. lol. The kid sizes are not long enough.

But what does he do yesterday? Bought the 28 x 30. Sigh! I am so mad I could spit! He gets suspended and he will NOT be playing ball. PERIOD! I could care less about what dad and him say. I am the driver. (Well if I can ever drive again. lol)

Let's see what else?? Hmm .. well I guess that is about it for my hodge podge of news and vents.

Post Surgery Check-in

Yeah Me!! I survived through yesterday. Still in massive pain. The pain pills were not keeping up last night and most part of today. But since around 4 seems they are keeping up better. Now hopefully we are on the last road of recovery and feeling better. Though I do have another surgery ahead of me in 8 weeks. But baby steps. Just worry about the now.

But I just feel so gosh darn old now. This just seems like something older people would have troubles with. But I suppose Fistula's are not age discriminatory. LOL. But seriously? First within the last month I have had reoccurring heartburn. Now I have to drink this god awful Metamucil. *blah!* Switch to a High bulk diet. I just feel old. I am cancel all birthdays from here or out.

But alas I am alive and kicking so enough wallowing in this. I will just deal. *pulling big girl pants on* stepping off vent box.

So 2 days until Christmas. Cold enough. But no snow. It was raining/freezing/sleeting early but that has stopped. I really wanted a White Christmas. Oh well.

Catcher Dude got some sad news this afternoon. He was all paid up and planning on going to a baseball camp next week but there was not enough interest and it was cancelled. Bummer!!

There was a present elf that showed up and a few misfits fell out of their bags and under my tree. Not sure how that happen. Guess some elf thought there was a deserving receiver here. ;-)

Seriously I have no clue who those gifts are for as I can not bend under there and look with this drain, stitches, and rubber band. I will have to ask the hubby when he returns home if he knows where they appeared.

Well I am all over the place. Drugs! Nice. Kicked in again and I can not hold a thought.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE ... EVE.

Surgery Set ... Darn!!

I went to the Dr. on Tuesday and even though I begged, borrowed, and pleaded for him to wait until after the first of the year .. Nope!!

I have an abscess and fistula(??) that can not wait. I can not stand this surgeon. He has no bed side manners. He is rude and hateful. I hate this is the man I have to rely on. I barley could get him to stand still and explain what he was doing. Then when I asked how much will I be unconvinced with the drain I will have to have for 8 weeks, he flew off the handle. UGH!!

Excuse me?!? I am the only one here to take care of kid. Who does not stand still a minute. Every night he has some clinic, camp, lesson, etc. I just paid for him to take that 3 day camp week of News Years, So excuse me for wanting to know how I will/will not be getting around.

Of course it is the 22nd of December, my husband has no vacation left. Why would he? *rolling eyes* The Dr. was going to be nice (shocker there) and push all his surgeries back to place me first thing in a.m so DH could be there but still be able to leave by 1:15p to go to work. Oh but of course his employer changed their hours from 2p-12:30a to 6a-4:30p these coming up two weeks. Ugh! But least when I have to have the other surgery in 8 weeks he will have vacation again, and can be there. (That was DH reasoning .. whatever!!)

I am sick to death of there being something wrong with me all the time. I have been on some type of antibiotics since end of August. One type of infection after another. You would think ONE Dr. could pin point this and fix it. But no I have bounced from Dr. to Dr. fixing one infection in this area .. to another infection in this area. The top of my microwave looks like the darn pharmacy at Wal-greens. lol.

I really did not want to be laid up for Christmas. This is one of my favorite times when Catcher Dude is home. I hate .. hate .. hate .. this!!

(Stomping my feet and pouting!!)

First Liners

So I saw this idea on Life's Crises and I stole it decided to copy the idea. She got the idea from a blogger, which got it from a blogger, and well you get the idea.

What was the first line from your blog the first day of each month in 2008?
(As I started this process I realized there was a couple problems with this. (1) I didn't always post on the 1st day of the month. (2) Wasn't around a lot of the time at the beginning of the year. So I will have to make do.)

January - "So many things right now and I could not even begin to list them all." (written by DS .. was referring to what he misses)

February - "I believe hitting a round ball with a round bat is the hardest thing to do in all of sports." (Written by DS .. was writing about baseball)

March - NO POSTING THE WHOLE MONTH

April - NO POSTING THE WHOLE MONTH

May - "CYCLONES BREAK OUT THE HEAVY LUMBER IN POOL PLAY" (written by DS .. talking about tournament they played that weekend.

June - "When you read the 'shower door' part, try it. It's the first thing that has
ever cleaned that spotty shower door." (post about uses for WD 40)

July - "Man it has been a long and hard recovery to get back in the swing on things." (talking about my 6.5 months disappearance)

August - "I can not believe Monday school is here. Where did the summer go?" (self-explanatory.)

September - "So today is a holiday." (Labor Day)

October - "So that means for Catcher Dude the painful start of the fall season." (referring to baseball ending until January 2009)

November - "Though I am still not feeling all that well, guess I am going to have to see another Dr." (Health issues were still popping up all over the place)

December - "It's hard to believe that December has arrived" (Self-explanatory, I still feel this way.

I may do this on a yearly bases now. This year was a rough year. Just flipping back brought up those memories that I was all to eager to want to forget.

Our Favorite Day

So we ended up with our snow day today. Though we totally blew the day off. CD and I didn't even bother to get dressed. I didn't even have to get out to take dad dude to catch his ride for work. Catcher Dude actually slept most of the morning away. He has always been my sleeper. Even as an infant. He was my 12 hour baby. No matter what time he went to bed .. 12 hours later he would wake up. It was crazy. I was never really a sleep deprived mom.

Anyway when he finally rose from the dead bed we enjoyed the day. I broke down and even played PS2 with CD. I hate playing PS2 with him. He only has driving games or sports for the most part. I can do neither. Plus he plays them so much he has them mastered and no one likes playing with him. His friends, if and when they ever come over here, will not play with him. He kills them. LOL. Oh well. He agreed to play some non-sports game, non-driving game. It was all good. Then we snuggled up vegged out and watched a couple of the Christmas movies I have saved up on my TIVO. That was the extent of our SNOW DAY.

More snow and ice is to come middle of night. CD is totally hoping school is cancelled the rest of the week. Every day/night is calling for ice and snow so there is a possibility. I do not hold thy breathe. Though I am looking forward to winter break, screw it .. CHRISTMAS BREAK. Though we have a busy packed two weeks planned it is still always nice to have him home. When I get him up and out of bed. lol.

Oh .. almost forgot. On the Dr front. With the holidays upon us the office is really short staffed. I really didn't want to go back to the same Dr. I saw before, but not really a choice. So even though they are really booked solid until New Years Eve, crabby-no bed side manners-older than dirt Dr. will squeeze me in tomorrow. *crossing fingers* roads are okay for me to drive on. But I when I have to do the follow up appointment I am going to see about switching to this woman they have in the practice. I am hoping she will be easier to talk to, and has better bed side manners. *sigh* This is one reason I never went back to follow up with him the last time I was there I hated, and I hardly ever say I hate something, hated this Dr. *sigh*

Well I am back off to watch more TV and head to bed.

Winter Storm Brings Ice And Snow ...

Or so they are forecasting. lol.

(myFOX.com) -- A winter storm will bring freezing rain, sleet, and snow to the area overnight Sunday into Monday. A cold front moving rapidly across the Midwest is ushering in Arctic air and rain along the front will change to freezing rain then sleet and finally to snow. Ice will glaze trees, cars, and roads. Crews are preparing for an slippery Monday morning commute.

CD is hoping and wishing and praying for a snow day!! Momma loves snow days!! BUT mamma's cyst appeared again early this A.M. and I need to get to the general surgeons office a.s.a.p tomorrow. Dad dude is outta vacation days so he can not stay and bitch and moan drive me. So let I am having mixed emotions on this weather. I want a snow day, but I want to get to the Dr's office.

So guess we will see. 4 more hours and it should be here. Or Not. Now I do not want a repeat of Dec 1, 2006

Meanwhile today was a lay around type of day.

Friday is here

So I managed to make it through yesterday. I go back again on the 6Th of January for them to finish what the started. I still do not understand what happen to cause a root canal to fail, but for them to fix it they have to go through the gum. Oh .. okay .. WTF! So they will complete the process in January. Glad they kept looking until the found the source of the infection. What a PITA!!

Now this morning for whatever reason, catcher dude thought it would be so fun .. fun .. capital F-U-N!! (NOT!!) To wake up with the stomach flu. :( Poor guy! Thank goodness dad dude was home today so he watched him while I went to school with a truck full of groceries. Otherwise we would have had them either
a) in the truck all weekend
or
2) piled in the house all weekend.

I decided whatever we have will just have to do for M-Th next week. Then they are out until January 6Th.

So I guess this is our weekend. Hopefully CD isn't sick to much longer. I don't like my wee one lil like this, and apparently the dad dude sucks at nursing. When I got home from school I stopped back in to see what I could go get CD from the store. Sprite & jell-o. But sent dad and you stay. LOL. Okay. So now dad dude is calling non-stop from store and I am home.

Well the laundry & dishes gremlin's have struck again so I am off to tackle them.

Surgery Day

Is here. Finally they have made up their minds what is wrong, and how to fix it. It has been many of weeks of on again, off again, this Dr, that Dr. *sigh*

I am glad they finally picked something. But I am a tad bit worried. I really had not thought much about it, or talked about it really even. It has been such a flip-flop-ity thing I figured it would be postponed or cancelled AGAIN. But here we are.

See ya when I see ya.

Happy Thursday!!!!!

Christmas Meme

I have seen this meme on several blogs. I usually do not do meme's, but I am all about Christmas so I thought I would chime in.

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Usually always wrapping paper. Occasionally I will use a bag, but I enjoy paper better. Usually snowman. I just  snowmen.

2. Real tree or Artificial? Always had an artificial. I have mentioned getting a real tree a couple times, but DH says they are a pain.

3. When do you put up the tree? Usually Thanksgiving night, or next day.

4. When do you take the tree down? Varies. Usually first week in January. Once it was in April or May. Then there was the year of the ice storm, that tree didn't get down at all that year. lol.

5. Do you like eggnog? Sure. Why not?

6. Favorite gift received as a child? Didn't have Christmas as a child. But one December in possible '79 -'80 my parents got me Operation and a Polaroid camera. I still remember those gifts.

7. Hardest person to buy for? Since usually I only buy for husband or child, I will go with husband.

8. Easiest person to buy for? Since usually I only buy for husband or child, I will go with child.

9. Do you have a nativity scene? Yep, well son does. He sets it up in his room on the top of his dresser.

10. Mail or email Christmas cards? If I send them, mail cards.

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Nothing comes to mind.

12. Favorite Christmas Movie? Oh I have so many. I will go top 3, in no particular order. (1) The Santa Clause. (2) It's a Wonder Life. (3) Polar Express.

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? Usually sometime in December. This year though since we are not having Christmas I didn't have to shop at all.

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Not that I can remember .. [thinking .. thinking .. thinking] Nope. Least not that I recall.

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Everything. LOL. I am a fan of Christmas cookies.

16. Lights on the tree? Yes. Clear.

17. Favorite Christmas songs: All of them. I am a BIG BIG fan of Christmas music.

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Stay home. Though last couple years son and I drove over to my mothers, but that less than 3 miles, so I do not think that is considered traveling. This year we won't even have to do that.

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer's? Hmm .. possible, maybe, probably since I seen the answers.

20. Angel on the tree top or a star? We had a star of the top of our first Christmas tree when we first got married. Then we bought our BIG tree and we had a big bow that went on top. When the bow broke we had an angel. Then we downsized tree and we can not find an angel or a star that doesn't bend the top, and isn't heavy. I think I will go back to a bow, just thought of that as I was typing this answer. But to answer question: Currently nothing.

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? Christmas morning.

22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? Attitudes.

23. Favorite ornament theme or color? Homemade.

24. Favorite for Christmas dinner? Ham, yams, pecan & Pumpkin pie.

25. What do you want for Christmas this year? I am good.

Another Cookie post

So I was browsing Another On-line Mom this morning and she shared these wonder sites. So I am so excited she shared!! We are making our list now of cookies & treats we are going to make.

The first site: http://www.christmas-cookies.com/. There are a lot if recipes here!

BHG's Site also has recipes for All-time Favorite Christmas cookies on its site at: http://www.bhg.com/holidays/christmas/cookies/favorite-christmas-cookies-and-bars/.

I know AOM asked. "What are your favorites?"

Really I am a fan of all assortments. I think my one of my easiest to make favorites would be the cookies we make in the cookie press, for the life of me I can not remember the name at this moment. But they are so quick and easy and yield butt loads.

December has arrived

It's hard to believe that December has arrived. Wow, where did the year go!?! With all the hustle and bustle of Christmas, the month will pass by all too quickly. But, make sure to find a few minutes to enjoy and savor the many other holidays and events that occur in December.

Today is Eat a Red Apple Day. Hope you eat an apple today, and every day.

So we have another dusting of snow. I am the type person either snow or do not snow but stop half assing it. Dump it, and close the city!!

My battery died, so I didn't get a chance to snap any holiday decorating pictures of catcher dude's handy work.

I went out already this morning and went shopping for school cart. Got all my paper work in order and ready to turn in. I found a ubber cute coin bank for catcher dude's room. Of course his room is baseball theme, so when I saw this bank that was a baseball, I had to buy it. :)

I need to get some more cards filled out. I am shooting for Thursday as a mail out date. We will see. Dang!kid! got me all in the holiday mood with his decorating. I was all willing, prepared, set to let the season go by. Oh well. Fa-la-la-la!!
