One Year Later

I can not believe one year has past since this day was here. High School Baseball Tryouts. It is hard to believe how fast time goes by.

So Big question. Am I as nervous today as I was last March 1-5? Not for the same reasons. Knowing more about what position players they have. I feel some sense of security. Plus when he asked about what would happen if he wasn't ready by today the coach simply said,

"But you will by end of March, correct?"

giving impression, they were not worried about t/o, but the season. So *shrug* who knows.

What does give me anxiety? After all the yelling, and phone calls, name calling, fits, etc .. the school could hold a grudge and simple not let the coaches place him

on the team. What? like that is not unheard of. I knew going into that fight I was pushing CD's luck. But unlike the XC incident, the broken finger fight, was the battle and chance. Like I always say, "Pick your battles."

I feel I did.

So we will See.

The Catcher Report

Been a while since I updated things around here. Just another crazy month here. I have debated going on and on about the troubles and trials here, but it would be a long post, and not the energy I want to put into this post.
Catcher's Report

School

Things are going very well. First Quarter has ended and grades were perfect. He really has grasp the high school years now and without much prodding he gets all his work completed and turned in. (that was the big thing last year would do the work and then forget to turn it in) Test scores are still killing him. It just sucks that test scores are so heavily weighted compared to classwork.

They took the PLAN test this week. He is hoping he scored high enough he will not have to take the ACT. Though that is an awesome goal, I have a little more realistic view. Which is me paying out big bucks to higher someone to take the ACT for him to tutor him on the ACT & taking ACT prep classes. But hey he could shock the heck out of us all.

He is still standing firm on his "No Socializing" policy. He now has it down to a sentence .. "I will always be the friend, never the boyfriend."

School, Grades, Baseball .. if it doesn't fall in those categorize, it doesn't happen. Which I can not say that bothers me. Girls (and boys) are such a distraction. I see/hear all the drama that entails and I am glad he has chosen to wait.
Cross Country

Catcher dude has done so well this year. To think his time trials August 2009 was 27:31, and now October 2010 is 19:54. That is insane. He ran Suburban North Conferences last weekend. He came place 14th in meet & team place. Tomorrow is District Meets. He will have to place Top 30 to go onto Sectionals on the 30th.

The XC season just goes by so fast. It is crazy. But I give props to all the runners I couldn't do it. I know CD has already signed up for a couple races this fall/winter. *shaking head* Boy is addicted.
Baseball

Well now that the fall season has come to an end. You would think it was time to slow down for a while, HA! No now is when he starts spending insanely amounts of time at the cages. If he isn't taking lessons, he is catching for those taking Pitching lessons. First day of HS Tryout is only in .. 129 days. No time to sit. (Know I am rolling my eyes at that statement)

There is a 44 yr old he is catching for that has never pitched a day in his life and decided he wanted to play on his work team, and is taking lessons. I say good for him!! Though I think his instructor and CD tend to disagree .. lol Apparently he is having a hard time right now getting it to the plate.
Home

Not to much going on around here. The dog is ill again. He has been dining on boiled hamburger/rice mixture and Pumpkin this week. I really hope he bounces back again, but I am afraid the inevitable is on the way. CDD has been working A LOT! He is working 36 hours OT this weekend. I have been struggling trying to get back control of this household, and by that I mean cleaning, laundry, etc. I just can not seem to get ahead. I also need to the furnace people back out to hook up the new furnace. It might come in handy here soon and I would hate to be freezing to death just because I didn't get them back out here.

Well I think that about wraps up this addition of "The Catcher Report" ..

.. Until next week

The Catcher Report

Take 2 ~ Damn you Blogger and your Error 506

First I want to give credit where credit is due – though the name “Catcher Report” came from my wee little head the idea came from Dana she does Friday Wrap-Up. I thought what a great idea. So I stole borrowed with love. ~ Thanks Dana for the inspiration.

Catcher’s Report

September flew by, and October is greeting us at the door. The weeks just seem to fly by anymore and I couldn’t tell you where they go. This week is no exception.

CDD has been fighting a cold all week. (He NEVER gets sick) So he only worked Tuesday & Thursday. I think this is the first time in forever he has actually used his sick days for actually being sick. Hopefully the weekend will do him good and he will be bounced back Monday. Though I am not sure how much rest he will actually get. He has to do yard work Saturday and get the snake repellent down before I strangle him.

~*~

Fall baseball is coming to an end as well. Not like he played very much. He was always at a try-out for summer 2011. He should have just skipped fall ball. It would have saved us money. (that was wasted) I thought he finally picked an organization last week to play for. But he received an email this week about another place interested, so next week he will be back at it again.

~*~

Cross Country is almost to the end. One more race next weekend
and then that is it. I think I cannot remember if everyone runs Conferences or if only top 10 go. Last Friday he ran a PR of 21:14, placing 85th out of 102. Running for CD has been trouble lately. Whatever is in the air is causing his airway to shrink when running. We didn’t think he would run today, but he ended up pushing through. So today's meet he ran Tanner ran a 21:51, placing 107th out of 182. Apparently not a great race day for him.

~*~

On the school front, I could tell you nothing. I really have done an excellent job not holding his hand. Conferences and grades will come out next Friday. It is what it is. I know I hear parents talking about all the work and homework their kids have. Mine? Never cracks a book. The proof will be in the pudding.

~*~

Well the first draft of this was WAY better and from now on I am taking Jay's suggestion and typing it all in Word first. So if I hit Publish and get an error .. I didn't waste my TIME.

.. on that note until next time

The Catcher Report ~ Catcherdude Style

THE CATCHER REPORT BY:
CATCHER DUDE

So I wanted to do The Catcher Report this week, it has been a long time since I high-jacked filled in for moms blog. I just looked it was back in July 2008. So here we go..

~*~

This past weekend I about got my ass kicked off Cross Country. None of the alarms went off and we over slept. That sucked!! I lucked out and Coach M let mom bring me. I set another PR of 21:30. I really wanted 21 or below, but I will take it. This weekend's race I am NOT looking forward to. I actually missed this race last year. But this course sucks. It has this hill, the hill has been named "man eater" and a name it has earned well. It sucked.

Now let's hope I do not over sleep in the morning. Though Coach M is picking me up from my house so I am sure I won't have that option.

~*~

Baseball sucked last weekend too. With this a mixture of boys, not everyone wants to gel. I can not stand that! Get on board or get off my field. Especially pitchers. Listen to me or you and I are both going to get hurt. Period. My hitting sucked..(you know I wonder if I need to stop using suck.. not sure if mom would "blog approve")..not sure what the deal was. I got on base, didn't steal so mom would not have a heart attack. You know she is still all over-protective-bitchy-like over this finger issue.

~*~

My most exciting news my car title is being delivered today. All mine, mine, mine!!

Now of course I can not drive unless one of them is in the car. But who cares just a few months I can drive it by myself. The baseball endowment will start in May picking up the insurance tab. Hopefully dad got all the other stuff in order while I am at school. I am stoked!!

~*~

I will close with this for the week ..

I am pretty sure that video will come down as soon as mom sees it. She isn't a Linkin Park Fan. But as they say ..

While the cats away the mice will play ..

*I had this done this afternoon but the school blocks youtube so I had to wait until home to send it ..

The Catcher Report ..

This week was the first week of school, and for the first time in 11 years I could tell you nothing about it. Good, bad, indifferent, that is just how it is. Seems for right now I have let go. I didn't insist I go pick him up everyday after practice. (so as to drill him .. got everything, books, homework, running stuff, etc, etc) I didn't call out as getting out of the car in the morning. (have your stuff, don't forget blah & blah) He either did his work, or he didn't I let it go. I am very impressed. I did well. *self pat on back*

~*~

XC is in full swing. Meets start Saturday. CD is really excited about this upcoming season. On one hand I am, but on the other. Well we all know what happen last season. (HERE & HERE) Now do I believe these boys are dumb enough for a repeat, NO! But really it never blew over that CD had nothing to do with it all. Well, he (nor I) had nothing to do with the email. It is just hard to let it go (for me) as they really made his freshman year a little more saucy than necessary.

Plus I was told right at the end of school by a few parents the parties that were guilty for the letter was bragging how she planned it the way she did to make us, Catcherdude and I, look like the guilty party. Hmmm really? Let's just say this mamma better stay away from me at the meets. There is 3.1 miles of ground. Go find some NOT next to me. :)

~*~

Tryout will resume this Sunday for Summer 2011 Baseball. His finger is still giving him fits. So I hope this is not putting his chances in danger. But really? He broke the thing playing for you. You should take that into consideration. Butts! This week & next then they will make their selections.

~*~

Finally last item, and my ramble is done. This past weekend we had to replace the entire furnace and air conditioning system in the house. Oh not what I was planning for the money. But hopefully this will help with lots of things.

July Came in with a BANG, SNAP, CRACKLE, POP ..

.. and I am not talking Fireworks.

Catcherdude broke his right index finger.

I am so wishing I would have kept my BIG MOUTH SHUT!!

CD had 2 games last night. The first one was on delay when we arrived. Apparently the game prior to theirs a runner was stealing third and ran into the third baseman. He broke his shin (apparently) on impact. The ambulance took it's sweet little time getting to the school. So it was delaying the following games. When CD's game started we already knew we were in for trouble with time. It just so happens they only bat 9 at time so he was not in the game as of yet so he asked about leaving to get to other game. No problem ..

We arrived at second game and there stands the coaches son on crutches and cast on leg. Apparently the game the night before he was running to first, tripped over bag and and broke his ankle.

So he comes the part when I should have KEPT MY BIG MOUTH CLOSED!!

I told the boys to be careful. Things seem to happen in 3's. :(( I jinxed my own son. :(

Out of 13 kids only 8 were there. You can play with 8, but it sure makes it hard on the boys. Since they were short kids the coach decided to make some adjustments. Put a kid that has not caught before behind plate. He placed CD in left-center & "knucklehead" in right center. "Knucklehead" didn't get the concept you have to also help cover center. NOOOOO He stayed in right and never moved his (_!_)

Third inning ..

Ball hit to Outfield. CD running like mad to catch this ball. He jumps and dives trying to make a last stitch effort to catch the ball. That was all she wrote for him. Not sure how but landed wrong. In lots of pain, swelling by the minute, but not going to leave the game as then they will forfeit. (Like I care .. where is the other 4 kids on the team? Where are they to support their team? To give a sh*t?)

Then what does the coach ask of him? PITCH! Oh for the love of god!! So with a broken finger he proceeds to pitch the next 3 innings. UGH!!!

[side note: I do understand he/we/CD had no clue it was broke at this time .. but still annoys me]

So that is it. Season is over. That's a wrap! So one broken finger .. 3 teams short a player. Bummer!

Over 300 miles and back again

So this weekend we were in Memphis for a baseball tournament. It was a H-O-T weekend, but least there was no rain this time. (Refering to BUST post)

It was a good time. I do wish though our manager would stop requesting no games on Fridays. Our boys the had to play 3 on Saturday. 2:45 pm, 5:00 pm, and 9:30 pm. But the 9:30 field was on a delay and they didn't start until after 10. We were playing ball after mid-night. LOL.

Boys faired well. But I will say you come up against these country boys and you have your work cut out for you. We ended up not seeding into Semi-Finals for Sunday so we did get a jump on an early arrival Sunday.

Only to pull into town and leave house again an hour later to play ball for AN team. So no rest for the weary.

I am through with distant drives for now I tell you. I can tell I am older now. I remember when the 15 hour drive we had from the AFB to home was nothing. Now I am wiped after a lil ol' 6 hour drive. LOL.

Tonight we have to drive a little over an hour to AN team game. It is SOOooo not worth driving that far for that team. Oh well. Had I been thinking ahead I would have booked a hotel and stayed down there for the night. Just seventeen more miles south and we could spent the next day at the Caverns. But I didn't think of that.

So until next time ...

Enjoy the day. :)

June? Really?

I can not believe it is already almost the middle of June. School gets out and (blink) it will be August before I know it ...

So excuse the absentness. I am sure by now I have lost most of my readers. Which is a bummer, but I never really blogged for others. It was for me. :)

Everything is in full swing. Three baseball teams. XC practice for HS has already started. CD is cutting three yards this summer for extra $$. Finishing up last belt in TKD. .. not a moment to spare around here.

But I did in my spare (ha!Ha!) time sign up for

Photobucket

I have really been watching my food/diet for quite a few weeks but I was lacking in the exerise department. I am really hoping this will jump start my progress there. But the healthy food, diet, food watch has also been slipping.

Do you know how hard it is to watch your food intake, healthy vs. not, all while spending most time on road from event to event, sitting in baseball fields? I have really been in the search for a healthy, easy to travel snacks etc ..

I had more on brain but bed is calling. Have a good weekend.

She's Alive ..

I really do not know where time has gone. It seems like it was just the beginning of March. We were sitting on pins and needles waiting for High School Baseball Tryouts to be completed and the start of the season.

Now I sit here and it is the 4th of May. Catcherdudes birthday is tomorrow, the last HS baseball game is Thursday, and there is only 15 more whole days and 3 1/3 days left of the Freshman year. WOW! Where did the time go? It is just flying by.

Their season records stands today 9-2. But the large number of scores in the games were unbelievable.

This coach everyone spoke very highly of and he didn't disappoint in the least. CD learned so much in these short 9 weeks. Sad it has to end. Though the boys never learned to play as a whole, more me, me, me boys than team, team, team. But you almost have to excuse a couple as that is how they were raised. As you could tell that in the parent benches. But I am not going to dwell on that as I was expecting BIG egos, to go with the freshman boys. Just in their testosterone's. LOL. But as everything it is time to move on. Spring/Summer baseball had already been in progress while CD away at high School team.

The Birthday .. Oh yes one of the bigger ones. He can now get his driving permit. Most kids would be biting at the bits for the date to turn and rush off to get it. Not mine.

"I am busy."
"Baseball and School come first."
"Might get around to it after school ends."
"Probably."

What a nut!

I can not say I will be sad this year for school to be ending. It is time. Time for break. Time to not have that plus all the other activities. Time to enjoy the upcoming Summer. Just wished the calendar reflected that. This week alone is jammed for. Volunteer hours for CD tonight, plus I am helping out as well. Awards Wednesday plus his birthday, volunteering at school during lunch & last game on Thursday. Etc.. etc .. on and on ...

Speaking of which I am now off to shower and start my day. Kitchen and laundry room been yelling at me all morning. Guess I best listen.

No Monday Moan Here ..

So far this morning it has been a good Monday. Yeah it started out the same ol' same ol'. Teen wouldn't get up, it was still dark, etc .. etc .. But for the most part. Positive thinking ahead, it has been a good day so far.

After dropping of CD at school I went and walked 2 miles (woo hoo), came home did the dishes, and started laundry. Showered. (That in it's self is a mircle .. lol) So I am going with this will be a great day.

Keeping fingers crossed that Catcherdude has a good day today, and gets things in order. It has been a rough patch with school work. Why on earth anyone would do the work and then forget to turn it in?? Just baffles me. But we are working hard on remembering. Studying. Organizing. So here is the the power of positive thinking and all will be accomplished today. X (--) X <-- me with fingers crossed. LOL. I am hoping to get to go out today with my camera and do some more practice and test shooting. Last week I took 3 camera classes. I really picked up some helpful tips and ideas. Hopefully I will get some good pictures of baseball this season. I even got a new lens (50mm F 1.8) on Saturday. What I really .. really .. really want is this 135mm F1.8 but that $ will $ have $ to $ wait. But sure is sweet. I went to another teams game the other day. Here is a good shot of what a catcher should NOT do. LOL

Season opener is tomorrow. I can not wait!! But I am sure Catcherdude is more excited than I am. LOL

Results are in .....

Drum Roll Please .....

CATCHER DUDE MADE THE BASEBALL TEAM!!

I am just so spitting proud of him. He has worked so hard on this day. He has given up so much. He totally deserves this.

I know I have said a lot about what all I have had to give up, and all I have had to do, but I would not trade a moment of that for the gleam in his eyes when he announced today he had in fact made the team.

WTG CATCHERDUDE!!
I AM VERY PROUD OF YOU!!

Now we can all breathe, concentrate on the last 2 days before Spring Break, and get ready for opening day.

OPENING DAY TUESDAY MARCH 30th!!

Day Four of Tryouts ...

We made it!! I can not believe the end of this week finally arrived. We actually made it to the end of this weeks tryouts. Boy was today a long day. It went okay the first part of the day. I was busy helping up at the High School at their Snack Store. So that filled most of the morning. But then afternoon came and it probably was worse than Monday in some ways. I never thought the 2 hours after school got out would ever get here.

But the good great FABULOUS news is Catcher Dude made it through the first cuts.

WTG CATCHERDUDE!!!!

Out of the 25 boys, 8 were cut, 2 moved up to JV, which left 15. I can not imagine they will cut more than 2-3, possible 4, more. So now we can exhale and regroup. Tryouts resume Monday, and as I said before final cuts on Thursday 12th. Catcher Dude was disappointed in not being invited to JV, but as his dad and I pointed out, the 2 they moved are 15 years old, are 3x a normal size freshman, and in the summer play with 17-18 year olds, so it would have been weird for them not to play up, and play a different position than him.

But I was about to kill the child as he walked out to the truck. NO EMOTIONS on his face. I could not read yes, no, nadda, my heart raced. I got instant heartburn. LOL. Jerk! I told him next week DO NOT pull that crap. LOL. But he had no clue what I was talking about. "What?! I was just walking to truck." Ugh!! Snot!

I have to say this week has taken it's toll. I would have never thought I would feel the emotions I have this week. Sure goes to show you just never know how a person will react to any given situation.
So there we have it. One more week to go.

Day 1 & 2

So yesterday was the first day of Tryouts. Catcherdude came home very excited and really certain he did very well. There are 25 boys trying out for 10-12 spots, they are not really sure how many they will take. We also thought tryouts were just this week. Well they are this week and next. Having cuts on this Thursday (4th) and next Thursday (11th). 4 days before my birthday, maybe an early b/day present for momma??? With no practices/tryouts on this Friday or next as there is no school. So a little more drawn out than expected.

I must say he really seems so at ease and confident. I was actually shocked how comfortable he seemed and no doubts when I picked him up yesterday. He really is convinced that he did well. The coaches did say (for what reason, and purpose I have no clue .. just to stir pot IMO) there is already 4 boys they know for sure they are taking. But OF COURSE gave no idea as to who these already lucky 4 were.

One peeve CD had was they perfectly stated in the meeting over a month ago, if you did not show up with all equipment (bats, gloves, etc) & proper apparel (baseball socks, baseball pants, baseball Jersey, belt, baseball hat, etc) you were cut immediately. Well apparently there were some that did not listen. All they were told show up like that again tomorrow and your cut! "Hmpth!" Says CD. The one thing I was NOT happy about, and Catcherdude swears I have nothing to worry about what so ever, was Chipmunk showed up at tryouts. (Remember my lovely friend Chipmunk Here & Here) But CD says not only did he not have a glove, was in shorts, he really couldn't run or catch ball. But even so don't want a fly of a distraction. Which is my guess. There have been a couple distractions buzzing around him lately. Momma Bear may need to get out her fly swatter and get'um. LOL

I am really happy for him. It actually eased my anxiety. As I was running on so much adrenaline yesterday I thought I would have a heart attack. Today was better. I thought about him about the time school got out, but since he was so cool and collected yesterday I didn't give much thought. :)

Today it hit 45 so they went out. Out makes me more happy. IMO you can not judge anyone throwing or hitting abilities in a gym. IMO. But Catcher Dudes Dad says if your a good hitter, gym or no gym they can tell. CD was just as happy with his performance today was y/day. Even more so I think. He really is enjoying himself. But he did tell me not to kid myself he still will sleep and breathe easier when this is all over.

So 2 days down.

This is it ..

What Catcherdude has been working his tail off the past 4 years. Tryouts for High School baseball. Tryouts start tomorrow afternoon. They last all week. He finishes up all his lessons, workouts, etc tonight at 8pm. After that nadda until High School practices & games. So if this doesn't happen, *gulp* long time until he sees any ball. Though really? If he doesn't make this team, I am sure this will be the end of him playing. He won't continue on. Least not in the capacity he has been playing. So really this is make it or break it time.

Looks like the weather didn't side with him either. It is not going to permit them out. All the snow just didn't go away fast enough and dry grounds and warmer temps didn't come either. So not sure how well kid will shine in a gym. But gotta make do with what you have.

I will be sitting on pins and needles all week. I think I am secretly taking this the worse than everyone in this house. There is so much time, money, and energy invested into him. I know he has sacrificed a lot. But so have I (we). :)

My heart has been racing all day, and we haven't gotten to the first day yet. 21 more hours and counting until the first of 5 days of tryouts. *sigh* I just might have a heart attack BEFORE day one gets here.

All I could dream about last night was that. I would wake up and tell myself to knock it off. But then back I would go. Some were good, but some well we won't talk about those. LOL.

But wouldn't you figure .. he woke this morning with running eyes and sniffies. He can not .. can not .. CAN NOT get sick. One miss day and *poof* 4 years down drain. *sigh* talk about stress in this house this evening. I am pumping fluids, meds, you name it, in him, on him, what ever it takes. I will mask any fever I have to in the a.m. :) But hopefully it will not come to this.

I am now off to make sure all final things are done and square. All purchases are finished. (least i hope so) Just need to make sure all paper work is together, and all baseball clothing is clean and ready.

Now just to find things to keep me busy and mind off this week. *crossing fingers* week goes fast. *breathe* momma .. breathe. LOL

Friday .. Finally

Still trying to get back in the swing of things. First full week of having the Internet back @ the house. So it is easier to blog again. But still not any less busy.

The normal busy nights with High School Cage time, Hitting lessons, TKD, Catching for pitching instructors, catching lessons, and baseball practices round out the 7 days in a week. But some highlights to this week :

Son had to have his schedule for next school year filled out & signed off. We were all excited to see he was recommended for Honors Math & Science Classes. This is even more sweet as since he was 3 he has been in school with and IEP in place. So maybe this is actually the start of the end of needing this in place. Boy would that not be the best news. Now if he could just get more organized and stop forgetting to turn work in, or not get the test scores he should the first time around. Ah! That would be .. but baby steps. Baby steps. We'll get there.

I can hardly believe in just about a month it will be time to try-out for the HS Baseball team. Sitting on Pins and needles already. I can not imagine what the week of Tryouts and then waiting for results will be like.

Taxes are filed and on the way. Couldn't be coming at a better time seeing how husband is drowning in my medical bills for the last 2 years. Yikes! They sure add up.

I am finally finished with all medicines. I have been on one type of antibiotic or another since right after Thanksgiving. So now we wait and see. Hopefully this last round will fix once and for all and NO MORE Surgeries!!

What also is nice now Husband has now picked up Friday, Saturday, Sunday duties and I get to stay in. That is nice. Miss the OT. But had to be done.

Looks like snow might be rolling in again for this weekend. Brrr .. I am really ready for warmer, spring like weather.

Is this Heaven?

No, It's Iowa.
Iowa? I could have sworn this was heaven.

Damn fool plowing under his corn field ...

Our practice game last night was in the middle of a corn field. I kid you not!!

Look at that scenery? Breathe taking ...

Time out! Chicks on the field ...

Cornfield behind the outfield. I kept wondering if Shoeless Joe Jackson would come out of there. LOL

Though I was not happy with the drive time for a PRACTICE game mind you, not a game. The weather was wonderful last night. The scenery was breathe taking. Boys had a good time. Little more goofing off than Catcherdude likes. He is just serious 100% of the time on a field. But it certainly was interesting.

~~~~
We have been so busy around here. I got my giveaway from Farmer's wife and as promised I am going to Vlog it. But time .. tick-tock! Today I am hoping for a minute. I could do right now. But seriously? I do need to put my face and clothes on. Really don't want to scare ya'll.
Happy Thursday. Hopefully I will be back with a Vlog after while.
CONTINUED .. No time to Post
Seriously! Just when I have time to continue a post. (click title to see which post this continues from) I am already behind again. Summer has kicked in full gear. We have not seen 80's in days now. (well maybe in middle night, doesn;t count) So to catch up as much as I can.
I WON ... I WON .. The cool Estee Lauder bag I was trying to win @ Farmers Wife's Blog. I am so excited!! I really do not win things. So this is ubber scubber exciting for me. PLUS I promised FW that if I should win, I would make a vlog when it arrives. So stay tuned for that. :) Because I do make good on threats promises.
Catcherdude got himself a stalker .. or so it seems to him. ROFL. There is a girl that basically he has grown up with. They have actually known each other since they were weeks old. Meeting first time on Mother's Day 1995. Up until the age 5 they were together all the time. After that we each bought houses on other side of town. So as time went on they seen less and less. So last Thursday we stopped by to see them we were in the neighborhood. It has been a couple years since really seeing each other. Well ... guess Miss E thinks Mister C is one hot HOTTY!! She has not stopped calling him, txting, facebooking (?? is that the term?) him.
CD doesn't know how to handle this. He seriously isn't looking for a gf. He has always liked her. He use to say they would be married. *giggle* But baseball now is his passion. He really hates we stopped in now. As he is afraid he will loss a good friend. Meanwhile .. *ding song* (sound of his phone going off for txt) never stops.
TG!! Her and her family is in & out of town with several vacations this summer. But she did get him nailed down to 4 different times to get together. Twice being his games. LOL. He has NEVER brought a GIRL to a game. Oh ... it has started. My High School er is being stalked chased.
Then of course there is the topic that keeps me jumping all the time. The topic that I can ramble and ramble and still not really rambled on enough. LOL. Baseball. I was just looking at the calendar and believe it or not we are on the backside of season being almost completed.
He is actually not doing half bad. But there is much to improve on. Especially with High School Try-outs just around the corner. He better get to steppin' it up.
The heat right now is really testing him. They played Sunday in a tournament. Games were at 8 & Noon. When the started it was already H-O-T. By the noon game well over the 90 mark. Then you add heat index and humidity. Oy!! He actually caught the entire time of both games, all 16. 1 game was 7 innings. With the other going into 9 innings. They were tied at end of game minutes. So they went to this dumb a** thing to break the tie. Last Batted out goes to second. Continue with line up. Play until someone scores. What a PITA!!
Tonight's game is cancelled due to heat. Boy I bet the pros wish they could call their game on the account of heat. *rolling eyes* But I am sure it is for the best, though what is that really teaching the kids? *shrug*
Well I should move. I have plenty to get done. Catcherdude is out mowing now and it is already HOT! Hot! HOT! But he is keeping cool by frozen rags and powerade. But I still better go check on him.
Happy Tuesday!!
Tuesday Toss Up
Well I certainly have been lagging in the update department. But really do I want to post yet another update about baseball? Really hasn't changed. Still losing and winning. Still catching. Still hitting, but can not find a hole to make it through. Catcherdude did hit his first Home Run (this season) on Friday. He would like to see more RBI's (Runs Batted In) but he bats 1st. So those are not likely to fall in his lap as often as others. His batting AVG is down. He is at 52 SB (Stolen Bases) now, but seeing how can not make it on base now, his goal may just be out of reach. But we will see. He did tear the sh!t out of his knee sliding into second Sunday night. I am sure he will continue to re-open it from now until baseball stops. I keep it moist with Neosporin. Last night and tonight's games are cancelled. So that helps some as well. *Crossing Fingers* he doesn't keep hurting it to where he can not play as it hurts to bad. (SEE FIELD MAINTENANCE!! WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DO NOT SERVICE THE FIELDS AND DRAG THEM??? HARD ASS GROUND TO TEAR KNEES UP!!)
Let's see ... what else?
Hubby and I stole a rare moment away on Friday. Just him & I went down to our local downtown Farmer's Market. I was looking for a certain type of grape I LOVE. Not knowing the name was hard to locate. My grandfather grew them. I would sit in the field all the time (only grandchild out of 30+ allowed to *smile*) and eat the right off the vine. You would think my mother would know the name of them. Seeing it was her father. LOL. But Oh well. This vendor seem to think he knew what I spoke of and they are not in season yet. So I will try again later. But I did walk away with a bundle of goodies. 4# green beans, 4# B size potatoes, a large watermelon, a whole pineapple, and avocado's. Afterwards we went to a local restaurant. Not a great pick. Live and learn.
Sunday I fixed up the green beans, potatoes, and bacon in a pot. Yum! Yum! I have been snacking on them all week. Plus the watermelon. I think I may turn green or red. LOL.
Also ...
Catcherdude is driving me crazy with his sleeping. He will sleep 24/7. I swear. Doesn't matter if I go wake him, if I am lucky enough to get him up, I will just later find his sacked out somewhere else. I finally got him up this morning and we went to the movies this a.m. They have free movie series during the summer. Today was American Girl Movie, or Madagascar II. We went for the Madagascar one. But we were not home an hour and he was sound asleep. Still is matter of fact.
Then there is .....
(BLANK SPACE)
I know there was more I was going to discuss, rant, chat about but drawing a blank. Hmmmm ...
Oh well guess that will have to be it for todays ramble.
Home Sweet Home
So were back from our out of town baseball weekend. I really hope we stay on town from now on. We can loss just as well in the comfort of our own house & beds. LOL. Well to be honest we were the only ones who stayed. The rest decided to just drive back home. But I was just to tired and had already checked in Fri. The rest drove down Sat. Oh Well.
Even Catcher Dude played rough, well his batting. He usually doesn't have a bad game behind the plate. His throw to second could be better. (Actually it better get better before spring) Blue calling batters interference when he is throwing to third would be a MIRACLE!!
They played three games and lost them all. 2-16, 2-5, & 5-7. Catcherdude played second a few times and twice he had some really good plays. The bats really didn't come alive. CD's bat should be buried. LOL.
With 9 AB. 1 Hit. 1 Run. 1 RBI. 3 Strike Out. 1 Stolen Base. His AVG for the weekend .111. Oh well. Shake it off.
Team #1 is off this week for league play. Team #2 plays again Thursday. The the weekend starts another tournament for #1 team.
That is about all I have on the comings and goings around here.
Have a good Monday! I will try to get back to post a Not Me! Monday.
As the Baseball Turns ...
Here is a little baseball soap Opera for you. It is such a story all I could think of was this is a soap opera in the making.
So as far as baseball goes. It was not a pretty week. Can't really expect every game, week to go perfect so you would think just get up and brush it off. Well you would think. But last night was so intense for Catcher Dude. So bad. He actually tried to beat up one of his own pitchers. LOL. Okay. Serious. Not Funny Baseball Mom. Stop. Laughing. (Okay in all fairness, I did not laugh last night.) Then decided he was NOT playing for this second team any longer.
Wait I am getting a head.
Tuesday game. #2 team won 13-4. They had Catcher dude pitch the whole game. He had 10 SO, 3 BB. He actually did really good pitching. As far as batting this game 3 AB, 1 H, 1 RBI, 1 SB. So he definitely struggled there.
Wednesday game. #1 team Won 12-6. CD caught the whole game. (His backup was not there so he didn't have to share) His batting this game as good, but I tell ya he sure gets walked a lot! I am told it is because he has a good eye and doesn't swing at bullshit. But he really doesn't get much to work with. So he walked (no pun intended) away with 4 AB, 4 R, 1 3B, 3 BB, 2 SB. That is the first triple he has hit. So he was really happy about that.
Now that brings us to last nights game. Thursday game. #2 team lost 12-17. Now first of all you read 12-17 and you think that wasn't bad. Ah yes, but there is a little more than that. They were the visiting team. They only played top of the third. The bottom of first they were winning 9-4.
After the top of the 2nd they were winning 11-4. Then the home team batted bottom of the second. Then the nightmare started. Catcher dude had pitched first inning. He struggled. That was for sure. He had 1 BB, and 2 SO. (By the way those were the only SO of the game.) But for whatever reason they decided to go with another pitcher start of the next inning. He walked or HBP most of the runs in.
Changed pitcher, he couldn't keep it out of the dirt. But my blocking machine didn't let any past him (unless way over head, or more on third than over plate ..lol) Unfortunately he blocked so many his arms are now black and blue, and bleeding in some spots. He snapped and rushed the mound. (I think at that point was 11-10.)
Guess he was going to take blood from his pitcher. Screaming, flaying arms, pointing his finger, throwing equipment off. (that was before he reached mound .. lol) He reached the mound, and more words were said by him, the pitcher just stood there in horror. Luckily the coach came out. QUICK!
They switched pitchers again. It really didn't get any better. Their pitching just sucks, they have no fielding, and BB and HBP isn't any better. After they had went through entire batting order almost 3 times. They got 3 outs. Score now was 11-17. The game was a lost cause. It had been over the 1:45 minute time limit. Was only going into the top of the third. For whatever reason they let the boys bat again. I could still hear CD screaming over there. I was really think .. heart attack .. any minute. 4 batter made it up. 1 run. Blue called it. Final 12-17. BAD!! Really.
The yelling and screaming didn't really stop when he got over to me. I was actually worried about him. I tried calling Dad Dude to see if he could calm him. Not so much. Finally he quieted. But still was so mad. He could not even speak. All he kept saying is it was not worth all the troubles of playing on this little piss-ass rec league team. He quit! Period. Actually in my horror he was cussing and he has never cussed. (Not that I let him I told him.)
He wouldn't eat. Wouldn't drink. He barely let me tend to his bruised and bleeding arms.
I really feel for him. He works so hard, and to see others just not really care, try, it is hard. His mood this morning was not any better. He is still saying he is not returning to this team. *shrug*
He has practice tomorrow and a game Tuesday. I have tried not to say much to him today. Actually he came home today at 9:30 and has been sleeping since about 11. I am hoping this sleep will help him recover.
Poor Catcher Dude!! He carries teams all the time, and they break his heart when they don't step up.
