SNOWPOCALYPSE 2011

... or so they were saying at first. When this was first brewing about they were comparing it to the ice storm of 2006. HERE

Well that was enough to send me into full panic mode. I know people can not even grasp that. I get that. But for Flip-Flop sakes do not make fun or make it seem like I have irrational fears. If you were not here, if you do not know what it is like to hear the crackling of tree branches, and then the deafening sound of it hitting the ground, to not know where it hit. To be sleeping and you awake again to those sounds, though this time it hits your house and you just know it has broken through that time. To walk outside and almost get shot from a gun happy neighbor to look at your house and in the moonlight swear the limb is in your son's room. Right where he his sleeping. Yeah! Ice storms will scare the living hell out of you.

But yes, we did have ice again. But they were on top of it. It didn't get as bad as they thought. Monday they early dismissed the kids from school. That was about when the rain/sleet/ice started coming. Tuesday there was No school. It was supposed to change over from the major ice storm to 6"-13" of snow by 6 a.m. We did get snow, but not what they thought. Even CDD's company closed, but they had to use a day (don't get me started on that rant) if they want to be paid. They closed school again for today. Today just a few flakes here and there. The wind is blowing lots.

Now to try and find the driveway. *sigh* Had CDD had more days to blow I would have had him stay here. Fluck! This! Sh!t! Really none of us need to be doing it. CDD with his weight & heart, CD with his broken finger, and me with my drain. Not a good mix in the house.

So that is what is going on around here. I am sure there will be school tomorrow. But if I do not have the car & driveway unburied CD will probably not go, and I will fight with school about not marking him absent. Because of course had they taken the steps to make sure CD was safe, and let A$$clown break his finger he could ride his bus, but oh what is this I read, no riding buses Dr's orders. So either a Principal can drag their a$$ here to pick him up, send a cab, or not mark absent. Their choice. :)

Also today is Ground Hog Day ..

So according to Punxsutawney Phil, Spring will come early this year. I hope so. I really do. I am not complaining. We have not had snow, and a good amount of it, for years. But I think I am at my done point. It is fun to have extra days off here and there, and it has helped a lot in CD's recovery. Seems like a Snow Day came just when we needed it on a couple occasions. But this is enough. Time to get these kids in school back to full-time. So we can have a summer break.

Catch up and a long ramble

First who ordered this ice? I sure as double hockey sticks didn't. I really do not know what the flip floppin deal is but we NEVER use to get ice storms. Snow, yes. But flickin ice? Get outta here. As I type this I am once again waiting on a repair person to come rescue my house. The cable wires are pulling out my siding and stuff from the house. Umm .. ah ... hell NO!! I just had this repaired from last years ice storms. They told me Thursday at first, I said sure and I will send the bill of repair when it pulls and breaks the house trim and siding. NOW they all of a sudden had time to come out tonight. Yeah, so says them and there between 2p and 6p. So well will see.

It sure is pretty. But sure causes a lot of damage. I really thought the district might close today. There were quite a few. CD missed the bus and as I slide out of driveway I was really thinking school was not worth the risk of crashing. But alas I did make it fine once on HWY. So all was good, until I of course slipped on sidewalk coming back into house this morning. Dad dude quickly took care of that before I choked him.

I did give in and decorated this house. But CD is fully aware there will be no Christmas presents this year. Just can not swing it. Some how we are still in a sinking hole. It is hard to go from a family of 3 to 5 and still same income. *sigh* But I am working on getting it fixed. But all pennies and accounted for until later in 2008. So if giving up Christmas gets Catcher Dude on the fields of his dreams, then this is what we will do.

Speaking of Catcher Dude, his arm. Ah, yes the wonderful elbow that needed big time repair. He is still going to therapy. But the insurance saw fit to not approve it and is costing me in the millions, err thousands, err well in the grand hundreds that could reach thousand. Thanks! I am so glad dad dude pays out the ass at this job for his insurance only to have to pay BIG outta pocket money. FUCK YOU BCBS!! But the therapy is going well. He is learning plenty of exercises and drills that will pay off in the long run and should HUGELY improve the arm strength and build up the arm so it will not happen again. Still working on the Catcher's Program from the Doctor office. But it is hard to do it every other day with dad dude working nights. Then the weather is not a friend either. It is cold, raining, icy and making impossible to get it all in. This program IMO is not made for winter but summer. But he has to be repaired before then if not missing the season.
Catcher dude also finally made his team picks. He dropped 2. So this is good news. The team (Cyclones) are only going to be a tournament team. So no league play, just tournaments. They are actually going to play in the Cooperstown Dreams Park Tournament and he is so excited he could bust!! This tournament is in New York, and lasts 7 days. He will get to stay in dorms. This apparently is the tournaments of all tournaments, if you ask the boys. Us? The money sucker of all money suckers. There is the fee to pay for the boys (over $600) , but the parents have to find accommodations. Umm I called around over the weekend for prices. Over $200 a night for hotels ($1750). Get the fuck outta here. I had to put a deposit down for a place to stay yesterday. This is insane. He doesn't play there until another 7 months, but everything was booking up now and FAST. PLUS .. do we even know if he will be able to play? Or still playing at that time? *sigh* Taking a BIG risk here.
What else is on the fire? Hmmm ...

I thought I had some other things I was going to ramble on about, but I am at a loss right now. So I will stop. I have rambled enough.

Horrible Week

I am so glad it is almost over. Earlier this week we had parent orientation for the new HWMS. I guess kid will be moving there next year. Least as it stands right now. Gutter people were suppose to be here today, and thery weren't. I will be so GLAD when this construction is over.

Took kid to hockey game tonight. (Blues & Dallas) DH bowling night. Of course I was dropped dead tired. I was very happy when he came home and straight to shower. I can not stand the smell of smoke .. uck, gagged, puke.

Okay .. I LIED

I am NOT doing any better this week, than I have in the past. I really don't care what Pumbaa & Timon say's.

Pumbaa: It's like my buddy Timon always says: you got to put your behind in your past.

Timon: No, no no. Amateur. Sit down before you hurt yourself. It's "You got to put your past behind you."

I can not. I am still all hell bent over the last few months. I can not really see a time when I can or will. Bad me. I know. I know.

In other news .. it snowed last night. Not much, but YET AGAIN enough to DELAY the tree cutters. }:-(

Back Again

Well our AT&T (formly SBC) DSL went down Saturday Jan 13. We fought and fought to get it fixed. Finally DH got fed up. Turned off the AT&T house phone. Called up Charter.

Today they installed our new cable high speed internet. Hopefully everything will continue to smooth out from now on.

Then there were lights

When I returned home this evening from eating out with my mother, I was shocked when we pulled in the drive way and my wonderful flood lights "popped" on the lovely colors of red & green. LOL. The house was already toasty!! I was never so glad to be home.

Rest of family was at a hockey game, tonight they retired Brett Hulls number. When they got home, they were shocked as well. I kept lights off around house so they would be surprised when they pulled in and the lights "popped" on for them.

Another power Outage.

*sigh* So there was a horrible ice storm (Nov 30). It took many branches and placed them all so nicely all over my yard, fence, roof, and such. One branch, or branches not sure on that one .. took out back gutters, power lines, meter, you name it.

Here is some pictures of the damage ...

PICTURE SLIDESHOW

Thursday (Nov 30) Power went out .. storm hit!!

Saturday (Dec 2) a company came and removed the branches.

Monday (Dec 4) the electrician came to inspect damage. As the electric wire just didn't come lose from the house, it pulled the wiring OUT of the house. Ugh!! Plus another company came to take measurements for gutters, siding, etc ...

Tuesday (Dec 5) They are installing the new electric box that will now run on circuits instead of fuses.
