One Year Later

I can not believe one year has past since this day was here. High School Baseball Tryouts. It is hard to believe how fast time goes by.

So Big question. Am I as nervous today as I was last March 1-5? Not for the same reasons. Knowing more about what position players they have. I feel some sense of security. Plus when he asked about what would happen if he wasn't ready by today the coach simply said,

"But you will by end of March, correct?"

giving impression, they were not worried about t/o, but the season. So *shrug* who knows.

What does give me anxiety? After all the yelling, and phone calls, name calling, fits, etc .. the school could hold a grudge and simple not let the coaches place him

on the team. What? like that is not unheard of. I knew going into that fight I was pushing CD's luck. But unlike the XC incident, the broken finger fight, was the battle and chance. Like I always say, "Pick your battles."

I feel I did.

So we will See.

Mom Report to the Principal’s Office…

This morning I just knew it was going to be one of "those" days. By mid morning, I decided it was a cuss kind of day. So the words were flying. At one point there were some tears as I let the words spew from my lips. Then I CD received an email from the SSD teacher in his history class.

FIRST that is NOT his SSD teacher. SECOND it was an empty study guide for a test labeled Thursday. Umm.. Who is to fill this out? Why is this only being sent a day less then a day from the test? So I called the history teacher. Wait! She never checks her emails or VM. I called the SSD teacher that sent the email.

All the while dropping all possible words to CDD. Then when looking up the grades from his last final, Chem, I see the strangest thing I have ever seen in his grades ... Geometry 7% F. WTH!! Apparently none of his papers have been done. So I placed another call into that teacher as well. Since I was on a roll I called his Personal Fitness teacher and left VM to him as well. How DARE he tell CD to take off his splint because he wanted to see his finger? WHAT? Excuse me? Are you his Dr? Is he in Shower? Is he doing his therapy? I think those would all be No’s, and being that the answers are NO, the splint does NOT come off.

I was HOT and sure, as HELL was not taking this crap any longer. What the hell is this school not getting? NO WRITING!! ASSISTANCE IS REQUIRED. This is not by choice. I didn’t make the rules. I didn’t write up the guidelines to his return to school. That would be his DR. I really do not think any of us can over rule a very important rule. A rule, that if NOT followed could lead to the re-breaking of the finger and worse surgery AGAIN. It is not that hard. Fine send the study guide by email, but have the D!mn thing filled out.

I heard from the SSD teacher and the Geometry teacher. Explaining I DO NOT CARE what my “all I want to do is please all adults in my life, and will tell no one no” child says. NO HE CAN NOT WRITE. PERIOD!! Follow the Dr orders that I know all teachers were emailed. HE is not in charge I AM. The DR is. Trust me all this was said in my nice to your face voice. Got that settled peacefully. Geometry teacher is very sweet, a mom who gets it. I like that. :)

So I proceed my cussing day. CDD took me to lunch. I cussed some more. Waitress? Incompetent B!tch! I still fuss and feud to CDD about the lack of school being helpful. Them letting A$$ Clown walk scout free, etc, etc, all and everything plus the kitchen sink.

Dropped him off at his ride to work. Went with mom to take Yadi to Vets, while I was talking to the Vet & mom about A$$ Clown (don't ask how that came about, ha ha) my cell phone rings. It is the pre-fix to school numbers. Okay must be the last teacher, History. Yeaaa! Me in my fake nice to your face voice …
“Hello” ..
“Hi Mrs. XX this is ”THE B!TCH WHO LET YOUR SON GET BROKEN …”

She was calling because she had a VM from me. Yeah! Dumb A$$ B!tch! BEFORE CHRISTMAS!! I SNAPPED. I can hardly remember the words spewing from my lips. My moms jaw dropped. The Vet stopped in her tracks. But did that stop me? Nope! By the time I got done, I think she was in tears, which BTW I had a flicker of shame and guilt. She is a very young and brand new teacher. But that feeling didn’t last long. Grrr!! Hung up with her. Resumed rest of day. Now cussing to mom about all above.

Now we are at school picking up CD after basketball practice he gets in car. He is now cussing about sh!tty day. Tell me about a run in with A$$ Clown that led to him cussing LOUDLY in hallway at A$$ Clown. Apparently causing teachers to drop their jaws (no one would believe he would have that type of mouth. Hmm? Wonder where he gets that? Ha ha) Apparently coming very close to getting into fight w/ A$$ Clown, but A$$ Clown walked away. So after all that and realizing that this was a true cussing it all out sort of day. CD drops another bomb ..

Head Principal XYZ wants you to come to his office first thing in the a.m. What did you do to Ms. ”THE B!TCH WHO LET YOUR SON GET BROKEN” ?

… So there you have it. I have been called to the Principals office.

WHAT A DAY!!

The Catcher's Report Jan 3-9

The Catcher's Report

Been a while since I did a summary of the week. The week was not a horrible week. Funny how it was a short week, but it seemed so long. CD went back to the surgeon on Monday. They removed the temp cast and they removed his stitches. He had two options of what to do next. I opted for the cast. He will wear this one 3 weeks. That way less chances something happening to the finger at school. Plus, that way when CD pounded the snot out of the "a$$clown" his finger is well protected. Little ray of sunshine was Surgeon told CD he could resume catching for the pitchers getting lessons. He was really happy about that.

School returned this week from winter break, I wish it had been a bit longer so CD could have at least had a few days to do something other than lay in bed drugged up. I am glad that it was only a 3 day school week. Ease CD back into being active. But there is only roughly 60 days until Spring Break. We are talking about taking him out of town. Leaning towards Wisconsin Dells. But that still in air. (Really depends on how bad we are drowning in CD and my medical bills.)

We all piled into the school on first day back (Wed). CD made sure he expressed his grave disappointment on how they handled this whole situations. Said they would look into things and get back to us. They of course are back peddling as fast as they can. CDD and I were up at school several times in that one day. Plus speaking with a couple police in that city. They have been great actually. If they can on the slightest limb get this "a$$clown" on anything, they are. So the school may be dragging feet, but they are not. Actually the police already was able to confirm the school lied to them about this "a$$clown" so we will see.

Not going to be an easy fast fix that is for sure. Guess we will just have to see.

Of course since CD was given the green light, he was back at the baseball house catching by Tuesday. They were really glad to have him back. Made CD feel good to be wanted and needed. He also went back to Managing the Girls Varsity Basketball team. So looks like he is on the mend ~ mentally at least for now ~

Us? Same ol' Same. I go back next week to my dr/surgeon. See what his next plan is. I know what it is not. More surgery, unless he does pro bono. Tapped out on funds. As far as I am concerned the drain can just stay in. F- it!

The Finger, Part II

*** Wednesday December 22 ***

Son had to be at the surgery center at 2:00. His surgery was set for 4:00. What I was NOT a fan of is they sent him back by himself to be prepped. He has never had any type of procedures and being a minor, I just didn't like this. It took forever to be called back. I actually was almost in full panic attack mode, and I haven't had one of those in YEARS!!

We finally met the DR who would perform the surgery. Though young, he seemed like a really good doctor. I figured that if Steven Jackson of the STL Rams could trust him with his finger surgery, we could put our same trust in him. :)

He seemed hopeful he would be able to do a closed reduction. (The manipulative reduction of a fracture without incision.) This was good. No cutting would be EXCELLENT!! But if he was not happy with the way it went back in place, he would not hesitate to change plans to an Open Reduction (Reduction of a fracture after incision into the fracture site.) He would also be placing pins to hold it all in place. 15 minutes for Closed, 45 minutes for Open.

He even told son he would let him go back to catching & and some light baseball drills as soon as the normal cast went on in 12-15 days. (Yeah we will see about that, momma may have another opinion .. ) Though this was the first we heard about him actually being able to play again, so IDK if he was serious, or just trying to make son feel better. So back to waiting area.

I set my timer so I would know and not (least try not) go crazy with wondering. I went to #twitter and #fb to keep me company. BIG SHOUT OUT!! To those that were there to keep me company and keeping me in my skin. THANK YOU!!

At about 17 minutes we ended up getting a call from Surgeons nurse. They had to open up the finger. But better safe than sorry. :(

So now it would at least be the 45 minutes. He ended up with 3 pins in the fracture. But it was an even longer wait as after they got him out of surgery, and in recovery. They could not wake him. The surgery center was basically closed and we were still trying to get him to at least wake enough so they would release him into our care.

We did learn that he drinks way to much soda. In the 19 hours that he had not been given food or drink, he was having a caffeine withdrawal. That will be something we will have to work on in the new year. lol.

So now we just keep him on pain killers every 2 hours for at least 4-5 days. I see very lack of sleep on my part. I have alarms set to wake me to get the drugs in him and help keep him as comfortable as possible. So far he had been doing great with no pain, but the block they put in was to last over 24 hours. It ran out late this evening and it hit him like a ton of bricks. :( We were out grocery shopping, but we had luckily left him with a sitter. They called in a panic!! But all is under control now.

So now we wait for post surgery swelling to go down and return in 12-15 days to have temporary cast removed and the permanent one put on.

I already know this winter break is D-O-N-E. Christmas is not looking great. We will make the best of it. But hey .. I can not blame him for being pissed off and depressed. But we will keep moving through .. all we can do.

...........

*** Thursday December 23 ***

Meanwhile I have a HUGH problem with the way school, or the LACK of, is handling this. I am actually really pissed off!!

Not only did nothing happen to this "a$$clown". They never even spoke with him. I totally disagree with this. He is a pest, a pain in the ass, I guess I wouldn't go as far to say he is a bully change mind a$$clown IS a BULLY, but he certainly is a JACK ASS!!

First the Asst. Principal was not aware. Then when I made aware while bitching they wouldn't allow CD to make-up his finals. She was going to talk to PE teacher and nurses.

Then they didn't want to bother him during his finals, and we I spoke with the dang Asst. Principal today about how surgery went, they didn't speak with him on Tuesday as they didn't want, to quote her .. "Rune his Winter Break" Oh HELL NO!! Let's not upset him or rune his break. PLEASE!! He is a Jack Ass nothing is going to bother him anyway. But maybe SUSPENDING his FAT ASS!! Ugh!!

I will deal with all this on the 4th or 5th when they go back. Nothing really can be done right now anyway.

The Finger ..

*** Wednesday December 15 ***

I get a phone call from Catcherdudes school. I apparently need to get to school, he has dislocated his pinkie finger on right hand .. dropped everything to get to him. While en route I make several calls as to where to take him. ER it is. Check.

I finally get to school and see the poor baby pinkie ..

As I am driving him to the ER I find out from him HE didn't do anything to that finger. But a "student" (I am choosing to say "a$$clown" other than how I really feel or what to call this ..) in his P.E. class was horse, clowning around and thought it would be funny to jump on top of catcherdude while in pool somehow landing on top of his hand .. (Trust me I still can not imagine this act, no matter how many times I or anyone else have asked CD about how he did this)

Of Course!! The ER is backed up. But really it wasn't to bad of a wait. They carted him to x-ray while we waited to be seen. So when they got him back to be seen it wasn't bad of wait. Though they never put him in room. They just treated him in the hallway. Results were in no the a$$clown didn't dislocate his finger ..

BROKE THE DAMN THING

I seen the x-ray and this break was definitely worse than the July break. But I knew it was worse when the just didn't buddy tape it together like before, but started putting his whole hand/wrist/arm in a soft cast .. Yeah, this was not going to end well I could see this coming. They sent us on our way with instructions to follow-up with his orthopedic doctor in a couple days.

I do have to say this was a quick visit even though they were so backed up and for that I am thankful.

Now the reality of the whole thing was setting in .. no catching for pitchers, no batting, no winter workout, no lessons, no .. no .. no ..

Luckily school was cancelled Thursday due to ice storm. He tried to go back to school on Friday, but that didn't happen. He was to drugged up and his pain was not manageable. He would just have to wait until after the holidays to make them up.

*** Friday December 17 ***

The day of the Orthopedic doctor appointment. He let CD know that this break was horrible. That in fact he was going to have to refer him to a hand specialist. I thought we would have to go see him, in his office, no! I got a phone call while sitting right there in Ortho doctor office. He looked at x-rays .. Catcherdude will require surgery. WHAT! Okay. So he would see him on Wednesday (22) and all was set and ready.

.. not the way to want to start your Christmas vacation ..

.......

I am so Flip Floppin Pissed off at that "a$$clown" at the P.E. teacher .. WTH! Don't send me letters "How Safe" "How watched" "How blah .. blah .. blah .." You DID not protect my child! F-- U!!

The Catcher Report

Been a while since I updated things around here. Just another crazy month here. I have debated going on and on about the troubles and trials here, but it would be a long post, and not the energy I want to put into this post.
Catcher's Report

School

Things are going very well. First Quarter has ended and grades were perfect. He really has grasp the high school years now and without much prodding he gets all his work completed and turned in. (that was the big thing last year would do the work and then forget to turn it in) Test scores are still killing him. It just sucks that test scores are so heavily weighted compared to classwork.

They took the PLAN test this week. He is hoping he scored high enough he will not have to take the ACT. Though that is an awesome goal, I have a little more realistic view. Which is me paying out big bucks to higher someone to take the ACT for him to tutor him on the ACT & taking ACT prep classes. But hey he could shock the heck out of us all.

He is still standing firm on his "No Socializing" policy. He now has it down to a sentence .. "I will always be the friend, never the boyfriend."

School, Grades, Baseball .. if it doesn't fall in those categorize, it doesn't happen. Which I can not say that bothers me. Girls (and boys) are such a distraction. I see/hear all the drama that entails and I am glad he has chosen to wait.
Cross Country

Catcher dude has done so well this year. To think his time trials August 2009 was 27:31, and now October 2010 is 19:54. That is insane. He ran Suburban North Conferences last weekend. He came place 14th in meet & team place. Tomorrow is District Meets. He will have to place Top 30 to go onto Sectionals on the 30th.

The XC season just goes by so fast. It is crazy. But I give props to all the runners I couldn't do it. I know CD has already signed up for a couple races this fall/winter. *shaking head* Boy is addicted.
Baseball

Well now that the fall season has come to an end. You would think it was time to slow down for a while, HA! No now is when he starts spending insanely amounts of time at the cages. If he isn't taking lessons, he is catching for those taking Pitching lessons. First day of HS Tryout is only in .. 129 days. No time to sit. (Know I am rolling my eyes at that statement)

There is a 44 yr old he is catching for that has never pitched a day in his life and decided he wanted to play on his work team, and is taking lessons. I say good for him!! Though I think his instructor and CD tend to disagree .. lol Apparently he is having a hard time right now getting it to the plate.
Home

Not to much going on around here. The dog is ill again. He has been dining on boiled hamburger/rice mixture and Pumpkin this week. I really hope he bounces back again, but I am afraid the inevitable is on the way. CDD has been working A LOT! He is working 36 hours OT this weekend. I have been struggling trying to get back control of this household, and by that I mean cleaning, laundry, etc. I just can not seem to get ahead. I also need to the furnace people back out to hook up the new furnace. It might come in handy here soon and I would hate to be freezing to death just because I didn't get them back out here.

Well I think that about wraps up this addition of "The Catcher Report" ..

.. Until next week

The Catcher Report ..

~*~*~

So here we are again. Another week gone by. It amazes me how fast Fridays roll around anymore. Why? Hmmm .. Good question ..

I did get on mom duties and checked grades of Catcherdude. Had a heart attack!! Went back and forth to say something or stay out of it. I finally after going back and forth for hours on end 10 minutes. I texted CD: "Might want to look into that Math Grade. It plunged!!"

That is all I said. Then walked away from the issue. Turns out it was a teacher error and had I said nothing, he would not have known. Yeah, well then maybe YOU need to check your grades. We all have access.

So what this is now the third week of school and still NO computers? This is insane. They had all summer to update and get them ready, but here we are 3 weeks in and no work or grades completed in 2 of his classes. Adv. Comp. Bus. Appl. & Accounting. *sigh* Speaking of his Adv. Comp. Bus. Appl. class. His teacher batted her eyes at him this week and got him to apply for FBLA. Sure that is what we needed another activity on his plate. I know they are only trying to push him and make him a better person to go out into the real work with. But what has changed since we were in school, you have to pay for that now. Of course! What don't you have to pay for anymore? Schools love to nickle and dime you.

~*~*~

XC today was the first "Official" meet. He broke his PR (Personal Record) today. He is so excited. He started XC off last Aug with a time of 27:31. The 1st Capital last year he ran 23:18. This year the 1st Capital was 21:35. He is on his way. He may take over Top 7.

~*~*~

Well that is all for the report this week ..

Happy Labor Day to all! Have a great Weekend.

September 1

You arrived so quickly. Next thing you know we will be talking about the holidays. I am not sure I am ready for all that mess yet. Though I am ready for cooler, crisp, leaves changing colors, weather. So hopefully with the flip of the calendar it will flip the temps.

It has been a sad week up at the High School. Sunday they lost a student to a drowning accident in the Meramec River. He was a Sophomore. He was with his family, he went under and a cousin grabbed his hand and brought him back up. But the current took him back under and pulled him away. Divers later helped recover his body in about seven feet of water about an hour later. He was not a strong swimmer and unfortunately was not wearing a life jacket.

I just can not imagine their loss.

Oddly enough his uncle, who was with the family, works with CDD. Though until CD called to tell his dad that his friend had died they were not aware the boys went to school together. Small World.

Well this post took on a different direction than planned.

The Catcher Report ..

That title caught me last week and thought, hell why not. Use it again. :)

~*~

So now we have two full weeks of Sophomore year under way. I couldn't tell you anymore than I did last week about the comings and goings. Which I will not let sit idle another week. I haven't asked one question. Checked phone once. Looked on-line at grades. There is lax then there is lazy ass parent syndrome. So I will check-in soon.

Open House was last night. I know Catcher Dude was excited he had all female teachers. Because well frankly he can bat those hazel eyes and they give into him. This was proven last year. Over and Over. Well sorry to break it to you son, but your xxx teacher, yeah she is batting for the other team. So good luck batting eyes at her. :) Which really they need to stop giving into him.

Other than that they all seem fine. Just fine. None I would jump for joy and say she is a great person/teacher. He is in two aided classrooms. Which I was told by SSD that wouldn't happen due to funding. So okay. But then you did it anyway. Make up your minds already. There is one issue he does want addressed, so I will send an email to admins in the next couple weeks. You walk into one teachers room and you are knocked over by the smell of coffee. Oy! It is bad. Like coffee house x3. There is no reason to have 2 coffee pots and subjecting students to that smell.

~*~

XC last week's time trials went well. Out of 38 he placed 11. He wasn't happy with his time. But they were all on high side. It had rained the night before and wet, soggy, muddy, terrain isn't the best for running. The top runner on his team just is unbelievable. His time was 18:39, and that isn't his best record either. I really think he will beat the school record soon.

~*~

Been another quiet week at the Home Fields. Which is not the norm for around here. So I am not sure what is up with that, but will enjoy it while it lasts.

So that is all my ramble this Friday.

Not a good sign ..

When you get a call first thing Monday morning from your sons coach. No. It is not.

Apparently they weighed CD and in 6 days he lost 13 pounds. Oh yes. This does not surprise me. Not like this exact thing didn't happen last year. Then the questions start. Did he increase his calories? Is he eating the proper things? Was I aware? This is not good for baseball. On and on.

We can not force feed this kid. We do feed him. Have the increase of grocery bill to back that one up. But it looks like XC is just something he should not do. Because it isn't good for baseball. So why doesn't the coach do something about it? He is in fact the BASEBALL COACH!! You can not have it both ways. You can not have him running XC because he is a good runner, but bitch stress how it is not good for baseball & his catching.

It's not like it makes me happy either. Think I like having school bitch that his pants are "saggin"? That he can not find clothes to fit? That he looks like we are starving him and you can count each and everyone of his ribs? That we then have to make him run with his shirt on (which he HATES)

YES!! I am so excited it has started all over again. YES! This conversation just made my day. Oy!! For this coach to be so smart, to be an excellent coach, to have coached some of the top athletes, he can be so ignorant. PLUS why are you weighing my son when he should be in History class? *tapping foot*

Meanwhile, I want to know where he gets it from? Me? His Dad? Umm, I don't think so. I want to drop weight like that. :) If running does that then sign me up. Umm scratch that. I am not that dumb. :)

So here is to another long XC year of fighting to keep the weight ON. To everyone telling me I am not doing my job as his mother. Yeap! I love it!!

The Catcher Report ..

This week was the first week of school, and for the first time in 11 years I could tell you nothing about it. Good, bad, indifferent, that is just how it is. Seems for right now I have let go. I didn't insist I go pick him up everyday after practice. (so as to drill him .. got everything, books, homework, running stuff, etc, etc) I didn't call out as getting out of the car in the morning. (have your stuff, don't forget blah & blah) He either did his work, or he didn't I let it go. I am very impressed. I did well. *self pat on back*

~*~

XC is in full swing. Meets start Saturday. CD is really excited about this upcoming season. On one hand I am, but on the other. Well we all know what happen last season. (HERE & HERE) Now do I believe these boys are dumb enough for a repeat, NO! But really it never blew over that CD had nothing to do with it all. Well, he (nor I) had nothing to do with the email. It is just hard to let it go (for me) as they really made his freshman year a little more saucy than necessary.

Plus I was told right at the end of school by a few parents the parties that were guilty for the letter was bragging how she planned it the way she did to make us, Catcherdude and I, look like the guilty party. Hmmm really? Let's just say this mamma better stay away from me at the meets. There is 3.1 miles of ground. Go find some NOT next to me. :)

~*~

Tryout will resume this Sunday for Summer 2011 Baseball. His finger is still giving him fits. So I hope this is not putting his chances in danger. But really? He broke the thing playing for you. You should take that into consideration. Butts! This week & next then they will make their selections.

~*~

Finally last item, and my ramble is done. This past weekend we had to replace the entire furnace and air conditioning system in the house. Oh not what I was planning for the money. But hopefully this will help with lots of things.

It's that time of year ...

Ah Yes, the wonderful time of year where the school and all the school activities have their hands out. Yes! Definitely my favorite time of year.

Now don't get wrong I know the fees can be more. I have read different blogs stating what other parents are forking out. So I do feel lucky in that sense. But really school, it is 13 more days til the first bell and you are driving me crazy.

Volunteer here, sign-up here. $5 here, $35 there. It is an on going battle. Plus the backpacks, clothes, school supplies, you name it they have it. You don't think you need it, want it .. You do .. you really do. The school will tell you so, and don't you know if the school says it .. It's true. haha

It is just insane. I really thought I had prepared ahead this year. Slotting money away here and there. Yeah! Right! Haven't even reached first day yet and that is gone. But least I can plan some ahead for the upcoming first weeks.

Knowing that in the first couple weeks there will be more supplies, more "must have" request from teachers, and all the apparel for Cross Country. (Because don't you know you can not wear same hoodie & t-shirt from the year before. ) It just seems to not end.

But really I wouldn't change a thing. Soon enough there will be a U-Haul backed in the driveway to take him to where ever his heart desires. Until then .... where do I send the next check?

Last Week

This is the last (full) week of school. The kids do have to go next M, T, W but they are just 1/2 days. They just go take final in class and come home. So really this is the last week. Last days to walk the halls for this school year.

Last days of Freshman year ...

It has been so stressful around here lately with not getting in bed early enough, not wanting to get up, last minute assignments, projects, procrastinating doing such assignments, projects, rain outs of ball games, etc. etc. The list goes on and on.

I have been screaming from the roof tops, "I can not wait until this school year is over!!"

But then I typed those words this morning on FB.

Last days of Freshman year ...

My breathe literaly was knocked out of me. This is it. It's over. (well almost) One year down in High School. 3 more to go. Where did the year go? Cross Country seems like so long ago. Another time. Baseball? We blinked and the season was over. *shaking head* I am not even sure the school went by slow enough for CD to enjoy his first year of HS. LOL

Though Freshman was good, okay. I really hope Sophmore year brings better times for all involved.

The Best $20 I ever spent ..

Wednesday DS school had their yearly Awards & Recognition Night. DS was chosen to receive the Teacher's Choice Award. But when receiving the letter notifying us of this wonderful news it also stated there were to be No Shorts, Jeans, flip flops, or tennis shoes worn.

Really? Have you met my child? Shorts, Jeans, Baseball Pants. That is his wardrobe. So knowing I was NOT about to go buy pants, fight finding him pants to fit, or buying dress shoes.

I got to calling around for a place that rents suits. DH was sure I would pay more to rent these clothes than I would to buy them. But I called anyway. Yep they rent them, were on our way. For $20 I rented suit pants, and shoes. SCORE!! I know I could not buy those for that price. So got them all ordered told to pick up Monday and return Thursday.

Then Monday night DS was asked to volunteer at the NHS induction ceremony Tuesday night. (Another Please no jeans, etc .. etc .. evening)

Then the awards night was Wednesday.

Meanwhile Monday evening DS's High School Baseball coaches mother passes away. The viewing was last night Thursday.

So DS got to wear those pants and shoes 3 times in the time span that he had the rental.

So my $20 rental got 3 days of usage. Now that is what I call a bargain. Though we would have all rather passed on having the use last night.

~*~*~

The funniest thing happen when we went to order the pants. Now I had already spoken to a sales (male) associate about his sizing issues. He told me they only rent children size suits, but he apparently looked it up and said nope he would be fine. So we walk in, I tell them we are there to order suit pants and shoes.

Woman: Ma'am we only have children sizes.
Me: I know.
Woman: (looking around) Where is the child
Me: (pointing to DS standing taller than me) Here.
Woman: Ma'am he is too big to fit in child's.
Me: (looking around) I spoke to a male associate on the phone he said it was all right.
Woman: (calling another associate) Did you speak to this woman about a child's suit for HIM?!?
Man: Ma'am this is the son you called about. There is no way.

Well they measured him, yep child's size 14 waist. Inseam 38.

Man & Woman (together) DAMN! He does fit in children sizing!!

No one ever believes me about the way he is built.

She's Alive ..

I really do not know where time has gone. It seems like it was just the beginning of March. We were sitting on pins and needles waiting for High School Baseball Tryouts to be completed and the start of the season.

Now I sit here and it is the 4th of May. Catcherdudes birthday is tomorrow, the last HS baseball game is Thursday, and there is only 15 more whole days and 3 1/3 days left of the Freshman year. WOW! Where did the time go? It is just flying by.

Their season records stands today 9-2. But the large number of scores in the games were unbelievable.

This coach everyone spoke very highly of and he didn't disappoint in the least. CD learned so much in these short 9 weeks. Sad it has to end. Though the boys never learned to play as a whole, more me, me, me boys than team, team, team. But you almost have to excuse a couple as that is how they were raised. As you could tell that in the parent benches. But I am not going to dwell on that as I was expecting BIG egos, to go with the freshman boys. Just in their testosterone's. LOL. But as everything it is time to move on. Spring/Summer baseball had already been in progress while CD away at high School team.

The Birthday .. Oh yes one of the bigger ones. He can now get his driving permit. Most kids would be biting at the bits for the date to turn and rush off to get it. Not mine.

"I am busy."
"Baseball and School come first."
"Might get around to it after school ends."
"Probably."

What a nut!

I can not say I will be sad this year for school to be ending. It is time. Time for break. Time to not have that plus all the other activities. Time to enjoy the upcoming Summer. Just wished the calendar reflected that. This week alone is jammed for. Volunteer hours for CD tonight, plus I am helping out as well. Awards Wednesday plus his birthday, volunteering at school during lunch & last game on Thursday. Etc.. etc .. on and on ...

Speaking of which I am now off to shower and start my day. Kitchen and laundry room been yelling at me all morning. Guess I best listen.

Spring Breakin

Once again life happens. This week has been Spring Break for Catcherdude. He has needed to break. Time to stop. breathe. smell the roses. HA! Right! Fat chance in that.

So since I am behind once again let's do a catch up bullet style on the comings and goings of this clubhouse.

  • Practices are going well. But not enough work to keep Catcher Dude busy enough.
  • Very disappointed no practices during spring break.
  • He was unable to wear his usual number and feels a little out of sorts but all is good.
  • First game less than 2 weeks away now.
  • I have gotten another yr older
  • Saw The Blind Side (awesome movie, sad, funny .. all good)
  • Since last walking into the halls of his High School a week from tomorrow, 5 students sadly ended their lives. So the end of their break will consist of attending funerals.
  • Coming to realize, I can not run around and do multiple activities through out a break from school. I.am.getting.old..er.

I recently got a new digital camera. Catcherdudes Dad wanted me to have a newer camera to take pictures of all the baseball and other life events. I am so far really liking it. I decided to really learn the features on this one, so I am going to take classes starting next week. I am craming 3 in before the first baseball game on the 30th. LOL. I know I am crazy!! But hopefully it will be worth wild.

That is really all I can currently think of that has been going on since I last took the time to stop by and blog. I really wanted to start a 365 days in photos blog, but I realized I was putting to much on myself. So maybe twice a week. We will see.

On that note I leave you with this photo:

Picture of the cake we bought Catcherdude to celebrate making the team.

Results are in .....

Drum Roll Please .....

CATCHER DUDE MADE THE BASEBALL TEAM!!

I am just so spitting proud of him. He has worked so hard on this day. He has given up so much. He totally deserves this.

I know I have said a lot about what all I have had to give up, and all I have had to do, but I would not trade a moment of that for the gleam in his eyes when he announced today he had in fact made the team.

WTG CATCHERDUDE!!
I AM VERY PROUD OF YOU!!

Now we can all breathe, concentrate on the last 2 days before Spring Break, and get ready for opening day.

OPENING DAY TUESDAY MARCH 30th!!

Day Four of Tryouts ...

We made it!! I can not believe the end of this week finally arrived. We actually made it to the end of this weeks tryouts. Boy was today a long day. It went okay the first part of the day. I was busy helping up at the High School at their Snack Store. So that filled most of the morning. But then afternoon came and it probably was worse than Monday in some ways. I never thought the 2 hours after school got out would ever get here.

But the good great FABULOUS news is Catcher Dude made it through the first cuts.

WTG CATCHERDUDE!!!!

Out of the 25 boys, 8 were cut, 2 moved up to JV, which left 15. I can not imagine they will cut more than 2-3, possible 4, more. So now we can exhale and regroup. Tryouts resume Monday, and as I said before final cuts on Thursday 12th. Catcher Dude was disappointed in not being invited to JV, but as his dad and I pointed out, the 2 they moved are 15 years old, are 3x a normal size freshman, and in the summer play with 17-18 year olds, so it would have been weird for them not to play up, and play a different position than him.

But I was about to kill the child as he walked out to the truck. NO EMOTIONS on his face. I could not read yes, no, nadda, my heart raced. I got instant heartburn. LOL. Jerk! I told him next week DO NOT pull that crap. LOL. But he had no clue what I was talking about. "What?! I was just walking to truck." Ugh!! Snot!

I have to say this week has taken it's toll. I would have never thought I would feel the emotions I have this week. Sure goes to show you just never know how a person will react to any given situation.
So there we have it. One more week to go.

Day 1 & 2

So yesterday was the first day of Tryouts. Catcherdude came home very excited and really certain he did very well. There are 25 boys trying out for 10-12 spots, they are not really sure how many they will take. We also thought tryouts were just this week. Well they are this week and next. Having cuts on this Thursday (4th) and next Thursday (11th). 4 days before my birthday, maybe an early b/day present for momma??? With no practices/tryouts on this Friday or next as there is no school. So a little more drawn out than expected.

I must say he really seems so at ease and confident. I was actually shocked how comfortable he seemed and no doubts when I picked him up yesterday. He really is convinced that he did well. The coaches did say (for what reason, and purpose I have no clue .. just to stir pot IMO) there is already 4 boys they know for sure they are taking. But OF COURSE gave no idea as to who these already lucky 4 were.

One peeve CD had was they perfectly stated in the meeting over a month ago, if you did not show up with all equipment (bats, gloves, etc) & proper apparel (baseball socks, baseball pants, baseball Jersey, belt, baseball hat, etc) you were cut immediately. Well apparently there were some that did not listen. All they were told show up like that again tomorrow and your cut! "Hmpth!" Says CD. The one thing I was NOT happy about, and Catcherdude swears I have nothing to worry about what so ever, was Chipmunk showed up at tryouts. (Remember my lovely friend Chipmunk Here & Here) But CD says not only did he not have a glove, was in shorts, he really couldn't run or catch ball. But even so don't want a fly of a distraction. Which is my guess. There have been a couple distractions buzzing around him lately. Momma Bear may need to get out her fly swatter and get'um. LOL

I am really happy for him. It actually eased my anxiety. As I was running on so much adrenaline yesterday I thought I would have a heart attack. Today was better. I thought about him about the time school got out, but since he was so cool and collected yesterday I didn't give much thought. :)

Today it hit 45 so they went out. Out makes me more happy. IMO you can not judge anyone throwing or hitting abilities in a gym. IMO. But Catcher Dudes Dad says if your a good hitter, gym or no gym they can tell. CD was just as happy with his performance today was y/day. Even more so I think. He really is enjoying himself. But he did tell me not to kid myself he still will sleep and breathe easier when this is all over.

So 2 days down.

This is it ..

What Catcherdude has been working his tail off the past 4 years. Tryouts for High School baseball. Tryouts start tomorrow afternoon. They last all week. He finishes up all his lessons, workouts, etc tonight at 8pm. After that nadda until High School practices & games. So if this doesn't happen, *gulp* long time until he sees any ball. Though really? If he doesn't make this team, I am sure this will be the end of him playing. He won't continue on. Least not in the capacity he has been playing. So really this is make it or break it time.

Looks like the weather didn't side with him either. It is not going to permit them out. All the snow just didn't go away fast enough and dry grounds and warmer temps didn't come either. So not sure how well kid will shine in a gym. But gotta make do with what you have.

I will be sitting on pins and needles all week. I think I am secretly taking this the worse than everyone in this house. There is so much time, money, and energy invested into him. I know he has sacrificed a lot. But so have I (we). :)

My heart has been racing all day, and we haven't gotten to the first day yet. 21 more hours and counting until the first of 5 days of tryouts. *sigh* I just might have a heart attack BEFORE day one gets here.

All I could dream about last night was that. I would wake up and tell myself to knock it off. But then back I would go. Some were good, but some well we won't talk about those. LOL.

But wouldn't you figure .. he woke this morning with running eyes and sniffies. He can not .. can not .. CAN NOT get sick. One miss day and *poof* 4 years down drain. *sigh* talk about stress in this house this evening. I am pumping fluids, meds, you name it, in him, on him, what ever it takes. I will mask any fever I have to in the a.m. :) But hopefully it will not come to this.

I am now off to make sure all final things are done and square. All purchases are finished. (least i hope so) Just need to make sure all paper work is together, and all baseball clothing is clean and ready.

Now just to find things to keep me busy and mind off this week. *crossing fingers* week goes fast. *breathe* momma .. breathe. LOL
