The Catcher's Report

The Catcher's Report

So we left off last week with me going to hospital to yet again have the infection cleaned out. What I was not expecting was to wake with another DAMN drain installed. Oh that was not on my plans. So that caused this to be a more slower
recovery. (As in I am still down for the count.) It is more painful to deal with that. Harder to "bounce" back. Driving is nearly impossible. :( Lucky for me I have a built in driver. CD has been wonderful. He picked up and ran with taking control and being very helpful.

CDD left as planned Saturday to go see the NFL game he and a co-worker planned a while back. But he wasn't even missed. CD cooked & cleaned. So I was quite able to just drug up and lay. :)

CD kept up with his busy week as usual. But it was okay. Busy days Monday & Tuesday, CDD was home on vacation. So still no need for me to do anything. He finished up Batting Lessons for the session. He is still Catching the Pitchers that are still having lessons. The Semester @ school ends this coming week, and Winter Break starts. So all is on track around here.

There is a snag, hopefully a minor one, fingers crossed. CD finally was able to get back to TKD. Just one more belt and he is finished. Just taking really long time, he is way to busy. But as saying he went Wednesday and then again Thursday. Somehow Thursday he managed to come down wrong on his right foot/ankle. He tried school Friday as you can not miss school with their schedule. Miss 1 day, workload of 2 days and right before grades due. NOT GOOD. He only made it thru 2.5 classes. DAMN!

He can still tonight can bare no weight. So now not only is he hurt. I do not have a helper or driver. Plus I am having a hard time helping him. :( Moms should never
not be able to help their children. Plus he could lose his catching position. Plus if he has to miss school again he is in BIG trouble. He won't be able to get things completed or finals in. Several of his classes he will not return to in Jan. So it is now or never. Then there is the issue if he is seriously hurt .. he might miss winter workouts for HS baseball and not be eligible to play in spring. Oy!! Just can't think about that.

He is told all the time he has to take care all the time. To much weighs on him to be healthy and not hurt.

CDD working 12 hour nights this weekend. Oy! I think he is going to have to stop committing to OT. Things are falling apart.

Other than that Christmas seems to be in good standings. I have to get wrapping done this week while CD is at school. I will not get a chance other wise. I was going to try and get out and buy him 1 or 2 other things but I don't see that happening.

So that pretty much sums up this week of The Catcher's Report ..

.... Until next time.

Seriously! Hazing in High School.

I am just so mad this morning I can seriously not see straight. My head is actually in a cloud. I am so torn as to what to do. My head and heart are at war.

Last week was Spirit week at school. There was as much "unapproved" activies as there was approved. I was not happy about this at all. I kept quiet at the request of Catcherdude. But I really had a safety issue for several of the kids. But so not to upset, embarrass, what ever, I kept mums. Yeah! Famous last words there.

Now I can not say what was or was not going on with the other teams and organizations but the XC team crossed many lines, and trust me it was NOT a finish line!! The upperclassman's famous form of "prank" was to give wedgies. But worse than that to pull to ripe them off the student. To quote them, "Ripe um". There was one student they riped his off everyday. But this was just "harmless" fun. So I was told. But then as the week progressed there were students being hurt. They picked one off the ground trying to get his to ripe off. When they finally gave way they "accidentally" dropped the kid. Causing bloody knees and elbows. He was not even able to compete in their meet Friday. But never said a word about what was happening. Coaches are not around when they are jogging to and from park and in locker room. There was not one kid who would come forward. The mom of the hurt child really wanted to go to school. But her son talked her out of it.

Just as mine all week told me to leave it be.

Blue paint in hair .. leave it be mom. Only one week.

Marker down sleeve of hoodie. Leave it be mom.

There were several attempts on "riping" son. But his TKD paid off. They walked away saying he was to much of a fighter. Still it just sat in the pit of my stomach. But we got through the week.

or so we thought ......

Yesterday they were coming in the locker room from practice and 9 of them jumped Catcherdude. They finally got him knocked to the ground. But in process they managed to hurt him. He actually got hurt worse than those last week. He certainly will not be competing this week. I lost all cool .. he was a mess when I met up with him later. Which was another thing he never mentioned to me what happened when I spoke to his several times after practice. Only when I walked into the PUBLIC LIBRARY to drop off a flash drive to him did I see what happen. Where was any adults? Where was all this security this school employees? So my first response was to go back to the school as find an admin. But they all go home at 3:30.

Catcherdude will not give up the names. This is assault. Period. But again not wanting to make waves. Will not say a word. As we are bandaging his bloody mess of an arm this morning still beg, borrow, and pleading that I do not say or do.

This just does not seem "normal" a look the other way type of issue. But like I started, my head and heart are at war. *sigh*

Sitting and waiting

Okay so kid is at his 2 hour Staff class. So I sit here bored. The weather is calling me out. This is the last activity for Catcher Dude today. Finally! We have been running since 8 this morning. We are going over to my moms after while for dinner. They are Q'n. Nice weather for it too.

So while I sit and wait I thought I would share some fun freebie finds for you.

Dove Hair Therapy System with Serum - Choice of 2 FREE Samples!

FREE Sample of Goodnites Sleep Shorts
The GoodNites Boxer Style offers a new choice for kids that give them trusted nighttime protection in a cool new style.

8 more days until another birthday rolls around. You know funny story DH and I always get questioned when we have to give both our birthdays. It is not the same date. But they seem to think we have given them wrong information.
"I said 15 this time not 23."
"No that is correct."
Duh!

Actually Catcher Dude will be playing in game on the 15th. *smile* Nice way to spend my birthday. *crossing fingers for warm weather & no rain*
What can I say DH like them older. LOL.

I am really excited Spring Break is almost here. Just 4 more school days. Then out for 10 days (counting weekends). Not sure what we will do. If anything other than the norm of practices, clinics, and TKD. If the 1$ show still has Twilight I would like to make sure CD gets to go see it. Since he was burned by those who said they would see it with him when it first came out. If not there is certainly something we can see together. I know .. I know .. not really cool to be seen in a theatre with your mom. But I am sure you can muster up the courage. LOL.

We got the schedule for the first team yesterday. So it is getting closer. I am getting excited. Especially since weather has been wonderful last two days. So soon that is all you will hear from me. Stats, scores, and brags. Because that is how I roll. Okay, so I promised kid I would stop saying that, tee-hee, but this is my blog. So deal!!

Okay! Well I promised I would watch last 30 minutes, so I best me getting my bum in.

Happy Weekend everyone!!

Happy Valentine's Day

Though the date on the calendar reads .. Saturday February 14th, 2009. Though there is the writing of "Valentine's Day" on the square assigned to this date on the calendar. Putting all that on the side.

Today will be like any other day. Any other Saturday. You can't tell here in Baseballville, that it is any other day. Grocery shopping is on the list. Errands are on this list. TKD on the list. Baseball, of course, is on the list. LOL.

Just another day on the calendar. A calendar that never rests. LOL.

Hope everyone in bloggie land has the best day!!

Proud Baseball Mom Mom

So tonight I am going to do brag about my catcher dude son. But this brag will not have to do nadda with Baseball if you can believe that one. LOL!

So as I have stated before Catcher Dude started TKD [post here. Also where I talk about chipmunk dude] in the fall and added this to his growing list of activities. I can say I was not all that on board with doing this at first. But I will say his confidence has really gotten better. He holds his head up high and walks with authority now. So these are all good things. He has always had a very respectful attitude.

But it has always been about self- defense, and nothing else, ie .. fighting, aggression, etc. So I have been very pleased with our his results and the program.

Since joining TKD in September he has tested and received 4 belts. His last testing was January 29. But since baseball right now keeps him really busy he had not had a chance to go back since then and go to class or pick-up his new belt.

Last night (Wednesday) he went back to class.
Was presented his new belt and started learning new steps and forms for his next belt. By the end of class last night Master Peasel approached dad dude and I and said he is such a fast learner and picks up his 1st steps and forms so quick that we are actually holding him back.

After 1 night .. 1 .. uno .. he was actually ready to test again. He really felt it was best to let him test again now. Testing was not supposed to be for another 4 weeks. But after having his new belt for one night, he is ready to test again. He will be testing tomorrow evening with the make-up kids that missed January 29Th testing. ONE night!!

Catcher Dude just ceases to amazes me. Always! He is such a great kid. He is quick to pick up things. That is what makes him a great kid. Great Son. Great Student. Awesome Catcher. There is not a coach that has not met him and states how he is the best coach able, wanting to please child they have ever met. They wish they could have 11+ more of him on their teams.

I am so proud of him. He melts this ol' momma heart <3 all the time. I just can not say enough how proud of him I .. we are of him. I really believe he can do anything he puts his mind to.

He just doesn't always apply himself as he should, and cheats himself a lot of times. Oh well .. I will not go down this road.

This is about how FRENCH'in proud I am to call myself his mom! I am a lucky person to have known him. :)

Twas the night before Thanksgiving.

So I have ran my lil bum all over today. I realized this a.m. we probably had some last minute items that needed picking up. Then I sprung up outta bed realizing .. as of 1 pm there will be no transportation here again until 2 am, and stores are all closing at midnight. Ummm .. Guess I better get movin.

So Catcher Dude and I ran to the store. I was actually prepared for long lines. But they were really good. So my plan was run us to the store. Make sure I got all I wanted/needed. Make sure I got all CD wanted/needed. Then run his lil butt into school. Um .. NOPE not how that went down.

We went to store. Got stuff for him to make him happy. Plus I saw this commercial the other day for a new One A Day Multi-Vitamin for teen boys. Saw that and thought Score! Home Run! We are taking these home.

Left there, brought groceries home. Then I sucked in and let CD stay home so he could go to TKD morning class, since he would miss again tonight, no car. Then off again to Sam's. Oh but we didn't make it there. We ended up at TRU, looking around.

So then it was time to drop him off at TKD. I ran up to school, dropped off left of purchases yesterday. Worked the cart for an hour. Rushed off picked up CD from TKD. We realized we forgot the crust for his cheesecake. So back to grocery store. Then home. For dad dude and him to rush off to park to throw. Back home. Dad dude left for work and Catcher dude and I set off on our dessert adventure. We made:

Cheesecake
Chocolate Pie
Pumpkin Spice Pudding
Pumpkin Pie (currently baking)

We might bake a cake later, still not sure about that one. Now I am sitting and resting. I am just beat. Plus we didn't get the best news today. But more later on that one.

I found a cute story/poem I will leave you with:

'Twas The Night Before Thanksgiving

'Twas the Night before Thanksgiving and all through the house
Mom was at the stove stirring and splattered her blouse.

The kids were in their beds, tucked in with care
while mom was in the kitchen, ready to pull out her hair.

The turkey, still frozen, sat in the sink
And all she could think of was "I need a drink."

The potatoes, cranberry sauce and the punch that was spiked
And the green bean with onion stuff that nobody liked,

All sat ready, in the fridge peacefully
And mom’s next thought was "I could really use some sleep."

But not yet, because though the food was prepared
Now the house had to be cleaned - except for upstairs.

So she scrubbed and she dusted up high and down low,
But she smartly skipped anything that wouldn't show.

Toward midnight it was, and tired was she
After prepping the meal and cleaning - Yippee!

For now it was time to get a little sleep
She was tired enough, no need to count sheep.

Because in a few short hours, the chaos would begin
And she would then know if she really did win.

When she sees the smiles and hears the laughter flow
Then, and only then, will she know

That even though a mom works harder than most
It is worth it when you are known as the host

That makes sure her family and her guests have their fun
And good food to eat when her work is done.

But she better sit down and have a glass of wine
Because she'll do it all again in a short month's time.

Favorite Day...

That's right. No School. Which why am I so excited? Doesn't seem like they have went all that much this month. Out of a possible 23 days, they attended 18. So it should be the norm by now. But none the less I had the boy home today and we actually got along and went out in public..shh..together. But I am sure that was because mom had all the credit cards cash. In a matter of 24 hours, I dropped little over $200 on this child on clothes & shoes. I once again am haunted reminded about a conversation I had over a year ago. [about the conversation] So first it was shoes.

Now clothes. *thud* He has fallen into that category. What category? The child that has to have the certain types, the certain brand, the certain size, the certain color. *thud*

I decided to put my big girl pants on and deal .. deal by not saying one word. I totally left the decisions up to him. I once added a thought and left it at that. It took 161 months for him to start caring about what he wore. So I guess I did pretty good getting away with it as long as I did.

But anyway we had a fun day. Added to his wardrobe for the fall/winter. Few laughs. Some eats. Yeah! All good.

Now what to do Friday?.. ah yes, home again. Do they ever go to school? Home Friday. Go to school Monday, new trimester starts so new classes, and off Tuesday for election.

home.school.home.school.

Geez. Give me time to miss um! [totally a joke, as I always like him home]

Dinner tonight

So I have had it with eating out, fast food, eating at 10:30pm - midnight. From running all evening. Tonight I am cooking this:

Mac-and-Cheese Soup

Catcher dude asked about this the other day, and we haven't had it in a while. So I stopped extra early this a.m. and took a drive to store.

I will start now, and should be ready when kiddo walks in from after school activities. Then we rush off for another night of running about. Actually .. we have one trip tonight. It is testing for TKD. So *crossing fingers*, hoping and praying, stomping feet, throwing myself on ground and having a 2-year old tantrum that we are home by 8 and in bed by 9. I need some Zzzzzzz's.

Recap September

Okay well so I haven't been around much this month. I know there is still 6 days left of September, but For the most part the month is over.

Baseball:

Let's see baseball is still going on. CD is all set with his team(s) for the spring. With the flooding that occurred the 14th it put a delay on the fields at one park. But they are back open for business as of this Friday. I am not sure if CD will play 1 or 2 teams this spring (2009). He is currently playing two different fall teams. I am not sure what he is going to do about the second team (cobras), but he has accepted the offer from the Grizzlies. He actually has a contract with them. LOL!! The Cobra's actually play up a year higher than he has to play. But really only misses the cut of by 5 day to have to play this age division. But as usual we leave the baseball team deciding on him. His first team (g) does a lot to help off set the cost of select ball. So we will see.

School:

8th Grade seems to be going well. Grades from what I can tell are good. Though they could be better considering now is when Colleges (wtf?) start paying attention to attendance, grades, etc. But he is going well and I am proud.

I have gotten sucked into the PTSA and was elected the past school year as this years Secretary. I am not all that excited about the position. But I will fill 1 year of my 2 year term. CD leaves this year so I will only do one year. Along with holding that position on the board I am also committee chair of the PTSA snack cart. I am up there almost everyday running the snack cart, least until we get more volunteers. This is the second biggest fundraiser the school has.

This n that (TKD) ..

We did have an issue with another student that lives over a couple blocks and is on the bus. I believe I mentioned this last year, though I can not find where. I really am not sure what this students "issue" is but if asked, he comes up with some dumb ass excuse. So he decides to come out of know where and hit CD, which unfortunately for him is very pale, fair skin, and blacks not one but both lil guys eyes. Grrr. This is the second time this ball headed child has given CD a black eye.

So .....

Not that momma promotes fighting .. but she let CD and C dad dude twist my arm in to letting him take Tae Kwon Do. Not that my busy schedule wasn't busy enough .. now I transport to TKD 3-4 times a week. Least for a month. See how goes from there. But I do like that is not about fighting but more self defense. That I like. Promotes respectful attitude, focused mind, and confidence. I have already seen an improvement with some of the above. So we will see. He has already worked hard these last couple weeks and has earned the right to test for the next belt on the 9th.

Well I do believe that catches everyone up on CD moms coming and goings. Hope I didn't bore you all to much.
