The Scrappy Ribbon Garland

Whitney Caroline Designs: The Scrappy Ribbon Garland

I was guided to this post today and thought it was way to cute not to share.

The Scrappy Ribbon Garland

To celebrate another successful Christmas season for Whitney Caroline Designs, I decided to take all of this year's ribbon scraps and make something wonderful! With the help of two strands of Christmas lights, I believe I have done just that! So, after several hours of tying and trimming, I proudly present, "The Scrappy Ribbon Garland!"

If you go to her blog there is all sorts of photos. I would post here but I do not want to be "stealing" pictures. If I ever get around to doing this with a strand I have here I will post my pictures.

Please visit her blog. It really is a nice place and I only stayed a couple minutes looking around.

Raining again.

This rain managed to ruin the whole weekend. The game today, and the two games on Sunday have been postponed. Yeah that makes for a happy, happy family.

Today has been a nada type day. I did clean out closet in living room. Yeah I know the basement is still sitting down there wanting attention. I just don't have that type of energy.

Kid went to a friends house from OLP. J hadn't called in a while. He ended up leaving OLP as well this year. OLP had their homecoming this weekend, so kid went with them. He is going to spend the night.

Left DH and myself to ourselves. Woo hoo. Big stuff going on now. NOT. We made dinner, ate, and then watched a DVD togther, Ghostship, while I cross-stitched. We did later go out for ice cream, sat out in the rain and ate. :) That was fun.

That is the big night for us.

Update on projects for Kid

So earlier this month (see post) I talked about an idea I had for what to do (make) for kid for Christmas. So I came across those patterns and was all set to start.

Well I got birthday one weeks ago, and started that one right away. It has been a PITA the whole time. Least right now because it is in the area where every so many stitches it changes colors again. But for most part it is going well. But the other two patterns that were for Christmas had not arrived and I was getting a tad bit annoyed and worried. But all else fails this would just have to step up and be the Christmas gift.

Well they arrived late last week. Boy was I happy. I got the Aida over the weekend. Got kid off to school this morning. Pulled it all out and started to get ready to start on the first one. I pull all the thread for the pattern, made copy of pattern so I could cross off as I stitched away. Then I noticed it.

They sent me the wrong pattern. Ugh! Sweet blasted sugar nuts!! Now I suppose this pattern is not the worst. But come on when I order a certain product, this is what I want. Not something you decide to send. So now I am trying to decide if I am going to suck it up and and lose anymore time on this matter and start this one. Or send this back and request the correct pattern be sent. Risking the fact it may or not be ready in time. Other wise it is all good.
I will try to post pictures as I go. I really think they will be fast patterns and so have no troubles completing the two I had plans for the holidays. So there is my update on kid presents.

Christmas 4 months away

So my DH (and at this moment I am not sure that stands for 'dear') announces to me today. But really it is 4 months, 3 weeks .. so there. Not that he really has a general interest in this. He just wanted to bring attention to the fact one of our 6' ft trees is still up in the basement. (YES. You read that correct!) Then proceeds to tell me, "Hell just leave it up now. Were just 1-step closer to being done."

"Shut Up. You have 2 good feet, and 2 good hands, want it down .. go knock yourself out"

But personally I like his "sarcastic" answer .. just leave it up. LOL.

Actually I came across this the other day.

So I ordered it. I use to Cross Stitch all they time before and got out of the habit. I am going to make it for the kid for Christmas.

Hope I have enough time. Came in today, so as soon as I get kid in bed tonight I will start on it. Hopefully between bedtimes, school time, baseball, baseball tryouts, hockey, etc .. etc .. I can get this made in time and him never pay attention and see what I am actually working on. That is my hopes anyway.

I also came across a pattern for hockey that I wanted to make. I have made a couple of these out of a NHL book I have. But it doesn't have the newer expansion teams in it. So I order this one as well.

Also this one. It was harder finding MLB teams. Their rights are a little tougher I guess. But I found it. Actually the site has a lot of different patterns.

This was actually the first idea that popped in my head for Christmas and I went on a search. Then I fell into the other baseball one & hockey.

Now the question is can I get them ALL done before Christmas? Actually my goal is to get the hockey & baseball one completed. If I get the bigger baseball one done "score" if not my goal is his birthday on that one. But since it came first I will start on it until other arrive.

I am bored sitting for hours at these baseball try-outs, practices, etc ..
